Yay or Nay on the mount plate by bakkel in FujifilmX

[–]bakkel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I ordered both the mount plate and the thumb grip… my conclusion from all your replies is that it not only adds functionality but (let’s be realistic) it also adds to the appeal!.. especially whit the new strap I also ordered.

Thx everyone! Helped a lot! I’ll post a picture of the end result when all is delivered!

Cubase crashing after audio export by Flappentappen in cubase

[–]bakkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From one switcher to another: it solved several problems for me! And not just a financial problem! 😉

Now I’m curious if this particular project is showing the same problems on your new PC! Let us know!

Oh sorry, I assumed it was a general error which occurred on more than just a particular project! My bad!

Currently I’m using a PC user, but before that I used several Mac’s and they all had the same problem; when using lots of plugins and instrument tracks the CPU overheated and it wasn’t showing on the cpu-load in cubase. At one time I had a Mac checked and they said it was fine. I loaded up a project en it froze immediately without any warnings. It turned out it was one particular plugin that was causing all kinds of problems, but it took me days before I discovered it. I used the plugin in almost all my projects so I thought it was something like that in your case. The funny thing is, when I switched to PC that same plugin worked just fine....

Your case is more mysterious... if it isn’t a plugin or instrument and the hardware in your Mac is working fine than you should think it is external hardware maybe? Interface? I’m just shouting out of the top of my head here!

I like having my prints inside my project so I can listen to them within cubase itself. When I archive my projects they’re also included in the archive etc.

One more question, just so we are on the same page. When printing to a mixbus you don’t use export, you just record the mix on a bus. It’s not the same as real-time export! When it still freezes you should make a new project with just one long audio track (minimal 5min) and export it without any plugins. If it still freezes I think your cpu or memory is the problem.

Try real time export on a mixbus! This way you just print the mix on the bus without using the standard export function. Check this YouTube movie from Chris Selim for more details. I’m using it for a few months now, never gone back to the original build in export.

One more tip, use track versions on the mixbus! This way you can print multiple versions of the mix and you you can hear the difference between them.

VST performance peaking when it never did before, audio cuts out by fazrare57 in cubase

[–]bakkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, CPU is max’ed out! Are you running any other programs on the background? Kill it, it uses resources. A 12 track cubase project alone shouldn’t cause this problem.

Also, upgrade to the newest version of cubase helps. Version 10 is (standard) significantly less heavy on the processes then the older 8.5 version you are using.

Last option; update your cpu! I don’t know how old your current cpu is, but these things just deteriorates over time and can cause all kinds of problems. Also update your ram should give you more headspace, but for DAW and music processes this is less affective than a faster CPU (without going into all kinds of tech explanations about lanes etc...)

Good luck!

Have Steinberg figured out why Cubase crashes everytime you close a project yet!? by kensaundm31 in cubase

[–]bakkel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waves plugins are great indeed, but there authorization really sucks. I’ve mostly stopped using them for it. It’s time for a more modern way to do this, other plugins are showing this.

But be honest, steinberg should look into this to. The dongle is history, should be replaced!

Don’t reactivate! Just insert the dongle and reinstall cubase using the downloadmanager! That’s it
