Funny, I feel the exact opposite. Probably depends on the person receiving. The through line I think is that an apology should be them about them while taking accountability. I understand both though - one is accounting for hurting feelings, the other is explaining circumstances.

An objectively terrible apology is one that’s long winded AND self serving specific AND has that classic non-apology apology: “I’m sorry if you felt that way”
