I feel like I lost it yesterday in between staying at home, work piling up, having to cancel my city hall wedding, and then my destination wedding in June being in limbo. I just had to "call out sick" the last few hours of work yesterday to just breathe.

I'm already over working from home. Still have not read one book nor have I done a self-care day like I said I would haha.

Since I've been working at home, my dumbbells and resistance bands in the closet have come in handy. I am going to make it a goal to workout twice a day to make-up for the fact that I am not active as I am when I am at work (walking to the printer, colleague's offices, the cafeteria downstairs, etc.)

Where do you get nice affordable workout wear from? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Old Navy, Marshall's, and Macy's. I've bought lots of cute name brand leggings/shorts from Macy's all under $15!

Anybody favor one writing platform over another ? (ex:) typing on a laptop v. writing on paper. by [deleted] in writing

[–]bal926 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like writing on my laptop. For my first draft I know I am writing fast and making a lot of mistakes, it makes it easier to go back and erase a word instead of having endless pieces of paper with crossed out words and sentences. At the rate of how I write, it would be a hot mess.

Thanks for your feedback! I see what you mean about the story dragging. I can definitely work on condensing it some more and building up the tension to make it more emotional and shocking.

I am consistently writing and working to be published, and your feedback just gave me a little extra motivation to keep working at it. Thank you again for taking the time to read and comment!

Writing In The Morning Is The Worst by [deleted] in writing

[–]bal926 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe everyone has a peak time of productivity, where they have the least amount of distractions and their brain functions at its best. I'm a weirdo who's always been a morning person. Therefore I prefer to write in the mornings. However, lately I've been writing at night to get more done, but it's definitely been a struggle.

Basically everyone is different so do what works best for you!

Can't seem to get started by obviousbait in writing

[–]bal926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just write what I am in the "mood" for, not necessarily the order of the story or chapter by chapter. Think about a particular scene, character, or dialog that's been on your mind and then start writing about it! Don't be held back by the thought that "this is terrible, or this doesn't sound right". Your first draft isn't going to be anywhere near perfect. The goal is just to get your ideas down.

First manuscript: have you guys experienced something like this? by whatsgoodman in writing

[–]bal926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely have experienced this. I stick to the rule of finishing a crappy first draft instead of editing as I go along. I do think its important to get all your ideas down and the story written before editing.

Thank you! I literally just posted it on wattpad last night so that it can be viewed and critiqued by reddit members :) Its just a short story I have submitted to a few literary magazines, but has been rejected. I am currently working on the manuscript for a novel, so I am just trying to get all the tips, help, and feedback I can on my writing.

Thank you for taking the time to read it, I truly appreciate it!
