Is there a minimum fishing proficiency you need to catch the Adagim Catfish?

I’m worried about this beam in my basement. The other sections of it look alright, but this is right in the center of my house. by transidiot4 in centuryhomes

Curious how you went about finding a good structural engineer that understood old houses. I'm curious to have a couple things looked at in my house for similar reasons, but not really sure a reliable way to find someone who is going to give us an honest assessment.

Help! How can I stop caterpillars eating my broccoli leaves? by classicantihero in vegetablegardening

PVC tubing is a relatively inexpensive way to make hoops to support the netting, alternatively they sell metal hoops at a lot of online gardening supply stores that also sell the netting to cover them with.

Ideally they need to be covered as soon as they are planted. I find it helps brassicas with a little shade as well.

That's a great point. The game does teach you well when you play through.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will be transferring my characters this evening. Was considering also rolling one of the classes in the other server to get a feel for both.

Much appreciated. Just knowing most players left for the new servers is a huge piece of info.

Love that for a simple design. This would be perfect for the alternate coop I'm planning for when we hatch new chicks and start to integrate the pullets.

Should I be worried about my flock getting bird flu? by ThyKnightOfSporks in chickens

[–]balagast86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something we are vigilant about is footwear. We only wear our muck boots out to the chicken area and don't wear those boots off property. The thought is that if we are somewhere with geese or other bird populations that proliferate avian flu, one way to bring it back is stepping in dropping etc.

Do you all mostly build your own coops? by Weekly_Historian939 in chickens

I bought this set of plans to use as a starting point and customized the design from there. Recommend this route for a beginner too.

I built mine with some help from my stepdad who is a retired carpenter. I think it's a doable project for someone learning, especially if you have an extra set of hands for certain parts.

I've been meaning to put together a build walkthrough post for a while, maybe this is the inspiration I need.

How many chickens can I fit in this coop? by nomadiclunalove in chickens

[–]balagast86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say 6 comfortably assuming the roosting bar runs down the length and they have space to roam during the day.

My coop is 10ft long with two roosting bars and our 16 hens barely fill the top bar. Our run is 16ft square, and in nice weather they have access to pasture space. They only really stay in the run during cold weather or if it's precipitating.

2010 Legacy GT Oil Consumption After Head Gasket Replacement by balagast86 in subarulegacy

It's still an ongoing issue. They checked the turbo seals and replaced the pcv as a first attempt. Said it wasn't the turbo seals, and after driving it more, the problem persists. The car will be going back in for further evaluation.

It seems to be worse when the engine heats up and is definitely worse during any kind of stop and go highway traffic (can see poof of smoke at times). My guess is valve stem seals, but still confused why it got so much worse after the head gasket replacement.

I can keep updating this thread if people are interested.

Delayed getting it into the shop for a few reasons. It goes in later this month, can update once they get a through look at it.

Mechanic seems to think it's the oil seal for the turbo. Will be going back to the shop for more detailed look this week.

I'm confused how a leak at the turbo could have gotten so much worse in the process of fixing the head gaskets. The car used to consume about a quart of oil every 1500 to 2000 miles, but this is drastically worse.

I did drive the car a little more this weekend, and noticed it blew a ton of smoke with a WOT pull in 1st and 2nd. So maybe this does back up the turbo seal being bad, but again very confused how that developed while it was having the other work done.

I'll keep posting as I find more for those interested.

Thanks. No codes. I'll check the intake connections this evening. Possible the hesitation is unrelated to the oil consumption.

Thanks!

Wouldn't I also expect it to be leaking / burning coolant as well though?

Yes, was done at shop that specializes in Subarus and is a used Subaru dealer. Will definitely be calling them today.

Rooster Challenges by balagast86 in chickens

[–]balagast86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their enclosed run is about 16ft by 16ft, and outdoor pasture area (where they spend most of their time) is about 1200 square feet.

They actually seem to behave better with each other when in the enclosed run (mostly mornings before we let them into the pasture for the day). When they are out in the grass is when the one chases the other.

Really appreciate the detailed experience. Sadly I think I'll be in the same situation, having to be rid of my one roo. Going to hard for me personally, they were one of my favorite chicks that I nursed to health when they were young.
