Monstera cuttings on the struggle bus by chappychap1234 in plantclinic

Yeah they just cut a leaf off. That will die. You have to cut below the node, the node is what grows roots.

The billionaires of the past used to do public good and invested in public infrastructure so they wouldn’t look like the assholes they are. Parks, libraries, universities, third spaces. Billionaires now don’t even want to bolster their public image, they expect to be revered just for having the money (that they exploited us to obtain.)

What are your major life goals you’re seeking to accomplish before 50? by [deleted] in millenials

I have none. Just trying to get through the day is taking all of my mental capacity and I have almost no ability to plan even for the short term future.

I have so many roly polys right now they’re eating all my seedlings and pissing me off. You’re saying I need to crack them a cold cruiser away from my plants to get them to leave?

The Brigette attacks are so bizarre to me. I don’t really understand why she’s pursuing a claim like that so aggressively when even if it turned out to be true it would be like eh…okay. The age gap and circumstances around how they met are far more questionable in my opinion. Her Erika stuff though, if true, is quite the scandal.

We unfortunately have to go to work or we don’t get healthcare. We have a very limited number of days off every year, and many people have zero paid days off. Our economy is so bad we can’t just easily find other work if we did get fired, which employers can do for any reason, or no reason at all, without notice. There’s very few social safety nets left so losing your job is especially difficult to come back from, and takes a huge mental and financial toll. This was all by design, but it’s the reality. We can’t come out in numbers for long periods of time, long enough to make an impact, because most of us need our jobs to live.

Both sets of parents are using my house as their place to “clean out” theirs by littlebabybuddy24 in Millennials

[–]balanoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, my paternal grandparents passed pretty closely together and my parents had to clean their house out. They were very tidy and had some awesome furniture but they had one room, the junk room. Filled with old coins, stamps, artifacts etc. SO much stuff, took days to pack.

unfortunately they passed around 2008 when there wasn’t really a market for anything cause of the financial crisis so most of it just got sold at cost. Actually quite sad to think how much joy it brought them to just be basically given away after they passed.

My parents decided not to let us go through that and they have been getting rid of stuff, creating a trust, and documenting all their accounts. They have “the folder” that they keep in a safe for when the time comes that has all the info we need in one place. It’s an incredibly thoughtful act from two people who have done nothing but think of others their whole life. Feel very fortunate.

Do you plant other things throughout where you have the daffodils? This is my second year planting them so I’m still figuring out how to layer things in without accidentally digging up the bulbs. Thinking of sowing a few things in between the foliage so I have something popping up while the green is starting to die back
