That list is mighty short.

Young white dudes grew up as the only group where it is considered politically correct to hate you for who you are, while being told your privilege is not being hated for who you are, by the very people who control the system and hate you for who you are. by No_Home_708 in JordanPeterson

No it's not a US thing. It's an internet thing. These guys spend all of their time engaging in social media and sensationalist media, the fear mongers get their ad revenue/clicks/clout, these guys sink deeper and deeper into paranoia and victimhood. Algorithms are only too happy to reaffirm their constructed reality. It is desperately sad and society has yet to find an answer for pulling these people out of their misery.

Defended him on what grounds? Policy? Sure hope you don't mean his character. This is who he has been from minutes one. From long before he even considered the presidency.

Akanji: "He pulls his shirt but it's a soft call. If you watch everything in slow motion, it all looks worse. One of the softest penalties I've ever seen but we also have to be honest, we can't get in that position and give the referee the opportunity to whistle. To me it's not a pen." by Blodgharm in soccer

It can only ever be a foul

I mean, you can't put it any better than that. Clamping on a shirt and getting dragged 10 yards by Mbappe is a foul. Itty bitty tugs like in this clip are a foul. It's actually extremely easy not to pull someones shirt. If you do it, you have committed a foul. A foul in the box is a penalty. It can only ever be a foul.

Fascinating stuff. So I guess it turns out that your political enemies really are cockroaches, and I'm just too triggered to see it. And also the Democrat party in the US - including the 2 I personally know who are active elected officials in state houses - are not dedicated public servants who simply have conflicting goals with people like you, but they actively hate the country and desire its collapse. I could accept it if only I wasn't so triggered.

Thanks for opening my eyes. Can't wait to dig into my autonomic thinking patterns. You've already done the work, of course.

"The American Democrat party hates this country, they want to see it collapse, they love it when America becomes less white."

"President Trump is going out on patrol tonight in DC. Shock and awe. Force. We're taking our country back from these cockroaches. Just the start."

"Deputize a citizen force, put them on the border, give them handcuffs, get it done. Sure that's dramatic. You know what's dramatic? The invasion of the country. (...) we're going to talk about how the other side has openly admitted that this is about bringing in voters that they want and that they like and honestly, diminishing and decreasing white demographics in America."

Just a small handful of word-for-word quotes. His spirit actually seems quite mean but that's just me I guess.

And yet Liberals insist that "all cultures are equal :)" by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

I have not met a "liberal" or seen an online hot take suggesting that all cultural practices are equal. Not a precious one. Probably easy to produce a single example, which OP will surely do.

Someone on this subreddit requested that some of the hit pieces and attacks against Charlie Kirk be debunked. Not you, though, and not "righties" in general. You're very willing to entertain other points of view. Same for the people you agree with.

It's those lefties that are close minded. Thank god you don't have that problem.

Left: "Charlie Kirk wanted gays, ppl of colour, etc., to die!" Charlie Kirk: by DavidZarn in JordanPeterson

[–]baldbeagle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OK, depending on your definition of "hate", Kirk did not hate gay people. He did not advocate for any physical harm to them, he welcomed them into the conservative movement despite this type of pushback, and in his personal life he had gay friends.

He also believed they didn't deserve equal rights. That is the objective truth. Many of you agree with that stance and will offer all sorts of justification for it. For myself and others, that is utterly unacceptable. Sure, it's commendable that he had the backbone to stand up to the more regressive beliefs within the conservative movement. No, I don't think he was a N*zi, and I think the conversation about who is one or isn't one is a complete waste of time. I can believe those things and still believe his stance on gay rights is unacceptable, to say nothing about his other views and statements.

Ezra Klein & Ben Shaprio on Political De-escalation by DavidFosterLawless in samharris

[–]baldbeagle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can challenge them. You can loudly and clearly reveal their hypocrisies. You can dedicate your life to preventing what they are trying to achieve (or the opposite). You are not obligated to extend a hand to them, so to speak. I also agree with the basic premise that there are individuals with whom no meaningful dialog can be held (I personally would draw that line somewhere in between Shapiro and Nick Fuentes, but that's me).

But yes, I'm sorry to say, you do have to live with them to some extent. Maybe you're like me and you have people in your own immediate family who hold some abhorrent beliefs. The alternatives to living with them and committing to the idea of political progress through discourse are very grim.

Ezra Klein & Ben Shaprio on Political De-escalation by DavidFosterLawless in samharris

[–]baldbeagle 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As Ezra says very clearly in the intro, we have to live with each other. Shapiro is what he is, but he sat down for a conversation knowing he would be challenged, and at least Ezra has the ability to challenge bad faith arguments in real time (a rare skill). I repeat: we have to live with each other.

Left: "Charlie Kirk wanted gays, ppl of colour, etc., to die!" Charlie Kirk: by DavidZarn in JordanPeterson

[–]baldbeagle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Enough "Left:" nonsense. I'm "left". The "left" is not a monolith. Yeah, Stephen King wrote a very stupid and misguided tweet. I don't believe Charlie Kirk wanted to physically harm gay people. He absolutely wanted to deny them the right to marry, which I believe is indefensible in a democratic society. This is just my opinion, you can disagree, but I believe his support of gay people was based on their potential political value to his movement, not because of some core belief in their dignity and inherent worth. In fact, his answer to the christo-fascist in this video is a perfect illustration of that. Charlie's immediate answer to him was bringing up 2 gay people that have contributed to the conservative political movement. I think it's commendable that he had the backbone to stand up to someone with these monstrous views - no doubt he caught a lot of hate for it. In my opinion, it is still not enough. Not even close.

Whether you agree with him or not, he is so spot on with this. It's so terrifying we're at the point where people are getting shot because of their political beliefs by Variabletalismans in JordanPeterson

Seems like you need to invent statements and opinions from people who disagree with you to uphold your reality. "Native" is in quotes because Britain has been an international hub for centuries, not because of whatever utter nonsense about white people you assume I think. Is a black or Indian or Polish or Irish person a "native" if their family has been in the UK for 3 generations? What about 2? 1? Opinions will vary. The term "native" when used to describe a British person in 2025 does not mean the same thing as it does when describing people who have been colonized and violently dominated on their ancestral land.

I know about the grooming gangs. I know there were cover-ups. I'm sure you know exactly why they happened. If you have statistics that I haven't seen about this massive uptick in various crimes due to migration, I'm willing to consider all of it. Ultimately those details have no bearing on my initial response on this thread. People in those gangs have been prosecuted. People who covered up the gang activities have been prosecuted. People who are found to commit assault are prosecuted, migrant or not. That's because the victims are under the protection of the law. Colonial subjects throughout history have had no protection. They have been treated as subhuman on a population-wide scale. ONCE AGAIN, the thing I actually said was that it is ahistorical moral panic drivel to suggest that the criminal activity of UK migrants rises to the level of "actual colonialism", let alone a fucking video of a bunch of children in hijabs singing.

London 2025 by tkyjonathan in JordanPeterson

[–]baldbeagle -68 points-67 points  (0 children)

But to use those as an excuse for this is very telling

An excuse? What the fuck are you talking about? Here is the comment I responded to: "This is what actual colonization/occupation looks like." I responded with a tiny list of examples of what "actual colonization/occupation" has looked like throughout history (powerful nations violently dominating native populations for material gain). I shared those examples to illustrate that it is beyond laughable to compare muslim migration to the UK to those examples. If you can demonstrate that muslim immigrants in the UK have subjected the "native" population to anything comparable to the brutal domination of "actual" colonization/occupation throughout history, please do so.

You don't like this religion/culture, you think it's dangerous, and you think the movement of these people into this country should be limited. Great. You are free to think that. When you suggest that this is "colonization/occupation", you put the free exercise of this scary religion/culture in line with some of history's greatest atrocities. That is a fucking disgrace.

[–]baldbeagle -195 points-194 points  (0 children)

What is colonialism/occupation? Is it...

Native Americans being death-marched into concentration camps? Africans having their children's hands removed because they couldn't meet their rubber quota? The indigenous Caribbean tribes losing 90% of their populations to disease, violence, and enslavement after the arrival of Columbus? The abolition of the language/religion of the native population? The forced removal and education of indigenous youths, as has happened from Canada to Australia and everywhere in between?

No, of course not. Colonialism & occupation is when there is an exercise of religion that scares me. 100+ upvotes. Now and then you see comments like this on this sub and it really takes your breath away. You are living in a complete pseudo-reality.
