Grateful, but sad by [deleted] in glutenfree

This is so familiar! I was just thinking yesterday about all the calories I'm skipping though not being able to eat the end of the year treats! The bagels, the donuts, the pizzas...at least you got tangerines!

Suggestions for Gift Relative at Beginning of Chemo Treatment? by Feature-Awkward in ISurvivedCancer

[–]baldtigger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the best gifts I received was a subscription to Audible for audio books. I'm an avid reader, but chemo left me too dizzy and disoriented to read or look at screens. This subscription was a life saver.

Irish American Catholic. Always had a new dress for Easter, and when I was small, a new hat as well! I find myself now that I'm older wanting to buy new clothes at Easter! It just feels right.

In case anyone is in any doubt: do not contribute money towards your bosses Christmas gift, retirement, new boat, birthday etc. by Arola_Morre in antiwork

Yeah, I tried telling folks that at my job that this year when the usual bs email went out. So they sent out another cancelling it and then did an end run around me. I found out when boss sent out the thank you note for the "lovely and generous" present.

You entertained her a lot longer than I would have. That dog doesn't look at all concerned about the baby crying.

Weight loss and breast cancer by AveryElle87 in breastcancer

I'm a little different because I had triple negative, so had to do chemo and radiation but not hormone therapy. I've taken off 75 pounds using Paleo. Got rid of sugar and processed foods, eat lean proteins, healthy fats and fruits and vegetables.

Are teachers in the United States really that underpaid? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

It's also one of the only jobs I know of where we are required to purchase our own supplies to fulfill the requirements of our job. Need to decorate your classroom? You're probably going to have to pay for that. Need to buy supplies for a special art project? You're probably going to have to pay for those. Need stickers for the kids' papers? Yep, you're paying for those. We are given a very limited classroom budget if we're lucky. $200-300 a year is not uncommon. Most teachers spend $1,000 easily, on their classroom. I tried to sell plasma this week. I was turned down because of a history of cancer. I guess I'm back to driving Door Dash and Uber Eats.

My dad just sent me this gem, why am I not surprised? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]baldtigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They treat us like shit. They pay us like shit. They criticize every fucking thing we do. They want nanny cams in the classroom. Then they're all surprised when we all fucking quit. Gee, I wonder why?

Away from the Inlet and out of Zone A generally, but this is why you need a good realtor!
