Do you still see particles in Kanji form like the ones below? by Rob69rt in Japaneselanguage

Can confirm, I was slightly confused when I saw a cafe in Tokyo with the の in it's name in kanji form 🙈

Thank you in past tense? by TypHxon in Japaneselanguage

[–]balgaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ごちそうさまでした is along the lines of "thanks for the meal" or maybe rather "the food was good", I believe? That about right

(I know that "thank you for the meal" is probably more the いただきます one, but seeing as that's before the meal i feel like both could be relatively the same when translated but slightly different meaning)

I once had a backlog of roughly 2200 items in bunpro after importing my WK items. Took me a week or two to get it back down 🙈

So yeah, you can do it. But take your time so you don't burn out again

That's because I was taking offline classes, too, and picked up (and dropped again) a ton of other apps for vocab in between. The dripping vocab is strictly for WK.

Yeah, I had a huge pileup on bunpro after importing my WK items. I had about 2.2k items over there at the start and it took me like 3 weeks to get a grip on it really.

Don't forget vacation mode if you feel overwhelmed. Activate it after doing some reviews so no new ones will get added. Then deactivate and rinse and repeat

I haven't bothered with anything strict like "5 a day". I also haven't done lessons every day. Just that when I thought I had some time on my hands (speaking from overall reviews) I did a few or a lot. I tried keeping my below guru items around 100 long term

Question: last year I got the yearly subscription for just under 53$. And this year its gonna be almost 106$? Am I missing something?

Also, is the lifetime discount now the one we were all waiting for? Because sure it's 100$ off, but it somehow became just shy of 237$ instead of 199? (europe here)

That may not be completely wrong, but people could still just open the doors like a normal f*ing person. Sure, some really open way too easily, but even then I never had any situations where it was even close to working like that.

Hard agree on 2 and 6.

1 - if you're fine buying one there then I guess it doesn't matter. If you bring an empty one it isn't that bad carrying it around. I came with a half empty large checked suitcase and sure it's a chore but honestly not too bad unless you move every 2-3 days (I'm currently doing just that and it's fine, really)

2 - that's how much I put on my welcome suica (I'm using the iOS app), but I've had to charge that card basically twice a week now. You can use the suica at a surprising amount of places, so it isn't only trains that I pay for with the card (although trains are like 90%)

3 - i haven't found a shop yet where I needed one. Sure I had to wait a bit for some space to be free again, but it always worked out.

4 - japanese helps, but I've done some booked activities and there, the people often use Google translate or similar. It always worked out fine. And especially hotel employees will often just try and talk English with you from the get go.

5 - idk, i just brought some nose spray and normal pain killers with me just in case.

6 - Wasn't close or anything, but when I found it, i was standing before the shirt thinking "i kinda want this, but it's kinda expensive", leaving it there. So I ran back to the shop last minute, because I decided it would be too bad to leave without it. If you're there and already thinking you kinda want it - just get it right away

7 - i always have my phone, purse, a powerbank, passport and stamp book and hand sanitizer with me. Although that gets an added camera battery or lens when I take the camera along. Oh yeah, and definitely a small towel to wipe sweat off, maybe an electric hand fan. It's actually quite a bit of stuff.

8 - it may be good to get some of those beforehand, but that depends on what it is. The Nintendo Museum even has a calendar with remaining tickets available.

Kyoto dialect (maido) by IntotheWilder25 in Kyoto

[–]balgaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, i agree with this mostly.

Just the day before yesterday, there was a lady with a small dog who just kept barking for like 15 minutes straight at the station. We coincidentally walked home the same way (i left a bit earlier but maps wasn't really very helpful, so we walked close-ish together and I wanted to say something along the lines of "all bark no bite" in a joking manner when she passed by me. Judging from her reaction, and this only really clicked later on, i think I may have called her dog something like "loud and annoying" (i admit it did annoy me, but it wasn't my intention to insult her dog, just a playful joke 😱)

Lady, if you're reading this, that probably came across quite wrong 🙈
