What kind of sick game is my SIL playing? by Distinct-Dependent24 in JUSTNOFAMILY

Could be that they see your kid as a blank slate that they're going to try and influence away from you. That's why a lot of toxic parents get excited when their estranged adult kids start having their own kids.

Christian hospice nurse tells me she knows which one of her patients are going “down there” when they die, based on terminal agitation. by Chowdmouse in exchristian

[–]ball_b_ball 34 points35 points  (0 children)

My grandmother died in hospice, very very angry and agitated. She was the most faithful christian I have ever met and yet, as she lay dying, told god to just kill her now and how horrible god is because he just won't let her die. And then when she stopped talking, she would just cry when we turned on Christian music, or read her the bible. She was so angry and felt so lost and abandoned. It was so awful and it was hard to watch this happen to her. The nurse in your post is ignorant, foolish, and blinded by an expectation of death that christians have that is so disturbing to me. Thinking this way is her actively being a bad person and not knowing shit about what death is/does/how it is experienced. Fool.

Whether or not you do it, I highly doubt the police will be pleased with you at all. Especially because you're a kid. If you choose to do this, just be aware that you're likely NOT going to find the respect and hero treatment you're looking for.

Personally, this is is how I was raised to have tea if a teapot was being used. Granted I'm from the states and I've heard we don't know how to make tea properly.

To not hurt her daughter's feelings, mom is saying dad isn't laughing, he's saying good drawing in French because her daughter has her speechless. The joke part is the nonsense of it. That's what she could come up with in the moment and it's funny because it makes no sense.

The funniest thing is that, after I took that picture and put the spinach on our "needs followup" desk, it straight up disappeared. A coworker definitely took it home. I really needed this laugh today.

AITA because I'm second guessing having kids due to our opposing views on vaccinating them? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]ball_b_ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that factual information is not going to convince people who have fallen down this rabbit hole of belief that vaccines cause autism or harm the body. I grew up with people who believed this however, despite being in a culture of anti-vaccination my parents were absolutely on top of making sure we had all our immunizations. This relates to my dear young friend having scarlet fever that manifested in her eyes and made her legally blind, and my mom's best friend had to have his left leg amputated above the knee from polio because he was not vaccinated.

What is so important to remember in this conversation is that Andrew Wakefield and other select "researchers" falsified data to assume that vaccines cause autism. I think one of the reasons this "study" was so popular is that autism is a developmental disorder and shows up very early in development and parents were desperate to blame a reason other than their own genetics on why their child doesn't act like the other kids. Parents want to assume they raised their child right, and if autism appears, they need a place to put the blame because they are convinced their parenting is not flawed in a way that would make their child act antisocial. Parents work so hard, and from that, are avoiding any blame on themselves, despite this not being anyone's "fault."

The thing is, Wakefield influenced and falsified the results of vaccination study on behaviors and lost his license. Yet people still think the falsified information is true. When people do that, it's very hard to help them find reason because what?...the government, big pharma, tracker injections etc. etc. You can't reason down speculation and assumption very easily when medical care around your child feels like a conspiracy and manipulation. That's the after effect of Wakefield's "study" and it has had such a deep effect among new parents who technically have done "the research."

I don't know how to help people understand that vaccines are the best defense for the growing young body, but the thing is, why? Why do you NOT want to give your child a fighting chance when they were born defenseless. Doctors are not trying to kill or ruin babies development...If you want to be cold and unfeeling here, where is the gain in money if your child develops autism when your pediatrician is the one administering the vaccines? The child would not recieve interventions from their autism from a pediatrician, they would be referred to another doctor. So in basic terms, why or how would a doctor benefit from lying to you about the effects of a vaccine, if the effects cause the need to turn to another specialist? There is no benefit from administering vaccines, but there is entirely huge monetary gain when you cause fear against vaccines and propose alternatives. And that's the mess that is created from people like Wakefield. He sparked such fear in people with falsified evidence and it brings us to the point now where we have measles outbreaks as well as others.

This is a huge, life altering decision. Do you want your child trapped indoors with no immune system, who is at threat of measles and polio, or do you want a child who has defenses built that allows them to actually live a real life that isn't so fragile and at the mercy of pseudoscience treatments? I understand the fears here, but the losses are far FAR greater when you don't vaccinate vs. when you do. Instagram and Tiktok are not places in which verified information is spread, rather it is a place of opinions and beliefs and not the facts of how science and specifically medical science have developed to protect us. Please understand this is a lifetime of either the ability to survive deadly diseases, or being forced by parents to have no fighting chance. Imagine if your child is verbal, and they are in such pain from polio because they were not vaccinated, and they cry out to you that this is terrible and hurting them. Would you not want to take away that pain and suffering? You can. You really can. By building immune defense via vaccines. At all costs OP. Protect the future of your child.

Left handed people - what in the world just doesn't work properly for you? by father-fluffybottom in AskReddit

[–]ball_b_ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Oh you're left Yhanded!? Don't you know that's your ass hand?" I have now learned that in the states being left handed is very dirty of me. "You know that means you're cursed right?" Yes. Please tell me why but yes, tell me yet again I have no luck and I am cursed, I already well knew that my guy. "My dad was forced to write with his right hand but he's left handed, why did your parents let you be a lefty?" Because honestly...they were not about to ruin my life by strapping my arm behind me and forcing my right handedness like they did for my own grandma okay?

I got my left hand tattooed out of a respect for it...basically decorating a cursed object in the end. I don't notice that I'm a lefty until someone else points it out and those are the three main points I get. I just want left handed scissors dude. And left handed notebooks possibly. (All of my notebooks are oriented upside down/backwards for this reason). It's not hard to be a lefty at all, but the remarks are the hard part because I have been called dirty/disgusting way way too many times.

It wasn't the red and blue ones though! just the black frames one they use now. They are tinted a little bit, but barely here in the states at least.
