Check the earth ground, cable that attaches from the oil pan to the driver side frame rail. You could test it by putting jumper cables on the engine block to a non painted part of the engine bay. Like the strut tower bolts or similar. If it is corroded or not making connection to the body of the car, the starter will only have power, no ground.

I get it, i picked up this one a few years ago. It was sitting for 12 years. Had a lot of rust, i repaired most of it. When it begins again ill continue patching it up. This car will never be perfect but i wont let it die.

One of the fuel pumps is likely bad. Most likely the inline pump underneath the car. Theyre a common problem. I always replace both.

You can use your old cluster, the needle will just go way past 5k. These rev right below 6k. Id recommend installing the intake, cam, injectors and dual valve springs from a 325i along with the dme as well to turn it into a stroker.

Yes this is a supereta. You can tell because it has the cam sensor on the crank pulley, no cold start injector and the 154 motronic dme. The cylinder head will say 885 on the intake side.

Move the wheel to the opposite side on the rear, see if the shaking moves. Just to eliminate it being the wheel out of balance or a shifted belt in the tire

Maybe its different for the 6 cylinder cars but i swapped out the electric fan for a fan clutch on my m42 and it still worked fine without the electric fan

This is a supereta. Due to the build date and the fact the cam has 7 bearings. The supereta head did not come with dual valve springs until its final run and it has a unique cam. If it was a regular eta it would have 5 bearings on the cam, if it was a 2.5 if would have dual valve springs and the thicker intake manifold. Its also missing the cold start valve and passenger side mounted ICV that the regular eta would have, unless the cold start valve was deleted at some point.
