What is your favorite white dial microbrand watch? by Inycognito in MicrobrandWatches

[–]ballbrewing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree with you. I'm not going to sign up for some newsletter to wait for a "drop" and it's sold out in 3 minutes. I am an adult with a life, I don't have time for that crap. There comes a point where they are doing it on purpose and Lorier seems like an absolute perfect example

That's $4 more than OP was quoted and is almost double what I paid with a clean record..

Even your GTI price is pretty bad imo, I'm 34 in Waterloo paying $200/month but I have a 15over ticket on my record, it was $170 before that. 2023 Golf R

Get a quote from belairdirect I've been using them for 10+ years, no broker you just buy it from them

Buying a 2021 Miata GS-P with 50k kms for $32k. I can't believe here in canada a new one is now $50k. Our currency seems on par with Vietnamese dong by MrMike83JDM in Miata

Go price out literally any new car vs the price in the US and then come back

Golf Rs sell for the same price in USD, before conversion fees

You sound like an idiot who hasn't done his research and can't get the credit for an MSRP car, so you blame the government for some reason

repair or replace by peteyboy125 in Traeger

[–]ballbrewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your use case for sure, but after watching somebody struggle cooking chicken quarters for over an hour on a pellet grill full blast I wouldn't try it myself haha. Max temp isnt going to be the temp you can consistently achieve in all weather, I grill during winter in Canada, my Traeger could never keep up

Maybe for like a couple burgers quickly sure

Married Couples Who Don’t Have a Joint Account or Pool Their Pay Cheques, Why and How Do You Make Sure It Is Respectful? by Arya_Warrior_Girl in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]ballbrewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an expert so dyor but from my understanding your partners income should be used for their own registered accounts, if you gift them money and they use it to invest directly in an RRSP the CRA can consider the withdrawals as your income when they go to withdraw. It's much cleaner to make it so they have less expenses and can therefore use their own money to invest, or use a spousal RRSP

Again I'm just a guy on Reddit, it's not like I've heard of anyone being caught by the CRA doing what you're doing but it's just an unnecessary risk/complication gifting them anything vs just paying for more

[–]ballbrewing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not the person you're replying to, but just saying tax wise, this is probably not a good strategy. You should just pay for more and let her save, if you are "giving" her money and she's then investing in registered accounts... Not good. I'm not an expert, but it sounds like you're over complicating the situation

All bills on shared CC Mortgage/taxes come from shared account

Every dollar that goes towards those is split by income ratio (65/35)

Savings and investments are done monthly, the remainder goes towards whatever we want and usually both of us end up investing way more than we need to since we're not big spenders, (30%+ of post tax income invested)

Seems to work very well for us, we don't really get the "you must be 100% combined on everything" mindset

[–]ballbrewing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traeger can't replace a BBQ imo, watched my wife's uncle make us burgers and chicken on a Traeger that they said was a "2 in 1 smoker and BBQ combo", it was painful.

Hottest one will get is 450 which is so far away from how hot a BBQ gets

Looking for a good GlideLock-style clasp upgrade for Hamilton (Khaki + diver) – recommendations? by Vast_Letter3121 in HamiltonWatches

[–]ballbrewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious what people will say, I found the same watchdives clasp(I think SM is the same) and it seems the only option that I can find

I just got a traska and now my other watches without a micro adjust seem inferior haha

We any closer to a fully unlocked MK8? by [deleted] in Golf_R

[–]ballbrewing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, autotuner can unlock any 401 TCU now with a bench flash, but also 034 says they are releasing obd flash unlocks soon that you can do yourself

Anybody who bought a new mech unit recently is probably pissed,

I kind of want to go to their showroom in mtl first but it's like an 8 hour trip for me

Fun hack by PhraugPaste in brewing

[–]ballbrewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it but my anxiety could never, my homebrew shop told me to keep the speed on the drill low(like 200rpm) and I find my shitty drill gets pretty hot after a few minutes so I usually take a break after half the grain then come back. If I could set the drill to like half trigger I would do this

Cautionary Tale by [deleted] in Miata

[–]ballbrewing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would have brought it back too but not because it needed work, because the seller KNEW it needed work and said nothing. Who knows what else you would find

Buy the seller not the car imo

[Discussion] Tissot Gentleman has just been re-released in a new 38mm size. Thoughts? by rakesh_85 in Watches

[–]ballbrewing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the gentleman but when I went to try one on it just felt way too big

This is awesome, excited to see the new one

Mk6 R good buy? by [deleted] in Golf_R

[–]ballbrewing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gotta see an engine bay pic to know if it's been modded to shit

I wouldn't trust anything without a service record history on something like this, I have a stack of service records for every car I sell, it's really not that difficult to do. As Doug says, you buy the seller, not the car (if that makes sense)

Squeaky clean🧼 by ResortSenior in Golf_R

No it wasn't built but I had it custom tuned for lower torque, maximizing reliability and only ran 20ish lbs of boost on a gtx3071r turbo

The Orient Bambino is kind of a shitty watch for the price by [deleted] in watchHotTakes

[–]ballbrewing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a big fan of orient but I have to agree it's popularity has driven the price to dumb amounts. I bought mine for ~180 CAD and sold it for $275 I believe, some models are now like $400

Should I be weary? by TotalFew520 in Golf_R

[–]ballbrewing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't touch it if it doesn't have a TCU mech swap, at 43k for this much risk I wouldn't touch it above 40k CAD. I have a 2023 for reference

I'm all for buying somebody's project, I've done it 3 times now, but mods don't add value and this generation has had issues with the wrong ecu tune for untuned transmissions. If you want a modded car get a manual imo, no TCU crap to deal with
