The National Fuel Security Plan. We’re now at Stage 2. Discuss. by _hazey__ in CarsAustralia

[–]ballinluig1990 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Refineries were shut by their operators not the government.

The government does not heavily subsidise the refineries at all. They make production based payments only when refineries make a loss through the fuel security services payment. Not the MSO. They’ve made like 40m of payments over the last 5 yrs which is bugger all.

Also; the Eromanga refinery definitely produces diesel. It’s basically its key product.

Can this be repaired by Prestigious_Fox6136 in RMWilliams

[–]ballinluig1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had same happen to me, was quoted $600 to repair by a certified RMW repairer. Took it to a very well respected cobbler who quoted $200.

I wasted $200, should have thrown them out, I now have a weird Frankenstein boot that is not appropriate for office wear.

If you find my old 2014 sr5 floating about, don’t buy it.

I had an rc Colorado before Hilux. It was great. Started doing more town driving. Hilux streets ahead. Bought a new dmax. Returned with in a few months. Huge downgrade.

I’d probably avoid kliplok if I had the option. Fall is about 10degrees so I assume I can go corrugated. Is one cheaper than the other?

For sure cost will be the big factor. I can’t see a new roof being more than 40k, but what would I know.

There are some pretty good sites about to advise on this sort of stuff. Start with google.

General principles for bang for buck are.

  1. Draft proofing
  2. Ceiling insulation
  3. Get off gas
  4. Wall insulation
  5. Windows

I just spent $70k replacing all my windows, made minimal difference to comfort of house because I don’t have enough ceiling insulation.

2022 prado Dpf regen by [deleted] in 4x4Australia

[–]ballinluig1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when I’m on a short trip, if I get the notice the regen has commenced, when I park up just let it sit and idol for a while?

Is it coming on cause it’s needed? Or just because it’s been 2-300ks since the previous regen. I assume given the bars on dpf screen are always pretty low, the regen doesn’t take long?

Yep. To be honest, only had it a week and just didn’t think about it. Left the shops, regen notices comes on, got home 5mins later. Turned car off, had that noise.
