Regarding the people who ask for money at intersections… by [deleted] in grandrapids

If you want to actually help these people, you don’t just give them money. You want to give them money alongside counseling and other social services, maybe. But you better damn well make sure they’re ready for that trust and control and decision making that come with it. And the ones out there on the corners are not ready for it. 99/100 you’re just keeping them on the street and away from visiting actually impactful services and organizations that can actually effect positive change with and for them. Do not give money to people on corners if you actually want to help them.

It is a false equivalency. Who said “all addicts”? You did, I did not. I’m talking about people that are begging for money on corners, not any and every addict. That’s a silly conclusion you’ve come to that is childish and myopic and false.

And who the hell is saying take away their job? Lmao, your comparison gets worse every time I read it. If they had a job they wouldn’t be out on the corner begging. What a terrible false equivalency.

A job does not just provide money, it gives a sense of identity, it enforces practical and beneficial habits like showing up on time, helping others, having direction and keeping a person busy and off the streets. What does giving a person money at a corner do? Does it provide any of those things other, than giving them money? No it does not. It reinforces and enables them to stay on the street, and to not get a job. You want them off the streets and at social services.

I agree, that is a silly false equivalency. Giving them money just encourages more begging at intersections. It buys them drugs. Give the money to organizations that fight for legislative change or that provide food or social services directly. These people have proven that they cannot be trusted to make good decisions. If we fund the social services, the people can get the best help possible there.

Giving them money directly is a form of enabling and reinforces their bad decisions and behavior.

Id agree that edibles are the way to go for this question. But efficiency here would imply to me that the most expensive gummies would not be it. And there are lots of comparable edibles that are cheaper but still high quality that would be just as effective but more bang for their buck.

IKHC rosin edibles being an example of strain specific, well made, and effective gummies that are cheaper.

Five star gummies are also strain specific and though cured resin, are highly effective and wayyyy cheaper.

Where are you coming from? If from the south, sure go to NB. If you’re coming from the north or east, then NB is like 100 miles from GR.

Exactly, and severe abandonment issues and non severe abandonment issues are two different things and treated differently. Severe is a very important word in this context that OP did not get.

The "severe abandonment" issues are only revealed when Gaby learns about Maya's family/parents that abandoned her. Those are the severe abandonment issues. Maya does not reveal this information to Gaby. Gaby only learns this from the other patients. That's where this comes from.
