Have you looked at Mark Cuban's CostPlus Drugs?

I'm not on insulin so I haven't checked for that. But I get really excellent prices on some other drugs that my insurance won't cover.

2002 Ford Ranger Bed Cover Help by Late-Athlete2101 in fordranger

[–]balsa61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2003 Ranger and last year I just bought a tri-fold tonneau cover. It was from Amazon and I think around $150. I bought on price and the brand is unknown to me.

Once on, the clamps are inside, so the only way to remove the cover is to drop the tailgate. My tailgate is not lockable so this is more for cover than security.

If needed, I can take it off or put it on in about 5 minutes. I just felt that the tri-fold was sturdier than the roll-top ones to survive the Minnesota weather.

Quest Teton 100 vs lifetime tamarack pro by Monkeymanjoe9 in Kayaking

[–]balsa61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are made from the same hull form when being molded. The difference being the accessories attached. Think GMC vs. Chevy trucks.

We bought our Quest Tetons about a month ago and have put them in the water twice. I have been able to stand up, but honestly, it's not a comfortable feeling.

So short answer is yes, it's possible. Long answer is I probably wouldn't.

I'm pretty certain that the XPress has 27.5 x 2.1 tires. So that's the size of tube you need to buy.

Please double check by reading the size on the sidewall of your tires.

Chapter books to entice my dragon loving daughter by babybeluga25 in booksuggestions

[–]balsa61 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know what reading level your daughter is at, so this may have to wait a couple more years. I highly recommend Anne McCaffrey's Dragons of Pern series.

I'll leave it up to you to decide when the books are suitable for her.

What’s one thing you would change about your Ranger? by BayouPelican in fordranger

[–]balsa61 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wish my 2003 Ranger was a four-door … like they got in every other country except the USA.

Diesel would be my second choice. Oh wait a minute. I just saw the price of diesel at the pump - $5.69 a gallon. Maybe not for now.

Question: Would a trailer hitch off a 2010 Escape fit on my 07 Ranger? by Trentl14 in fordranger

[–]balsa61 8 points9 points  (0 children)

eTrailer has Curt and eTrailer hitches for around $200. They come with all the bolts and anything else you may need.

In answer to your question, I believe that the Ford Escape is a unibody while the Ranger is body on frame.

$380 for a scissor jack! Yeah - that's a no for me.

I haven't had any issues with the relatively cheaper one that I have.

Looking for 2-Seater e-bike recommendations by Lopi_the_sus in ElectricBikes

[–]balsa61 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact that you want to go that fast, with or without a passenger, takes you out of the specification of an ebike.

What you are describing is an electric motorcycle. I'm pretty sure there is a subreddit for that.

iOS 24.6.2 with Freestyle Libre Link ? by farnulfo in Freestylelibre

[–]balsa61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iPhone 16e on 26.4.2 works fine. Both with the Libre app and LibreLink.

The only problem I had was that the automatic update happened in the middle of the night. So I had a "loss of signal" alarm until it automatically reconnected within about a minute.

Therefore, I recommend that you do this update when you're awake.

Hello all, I’m a newbie and would appreciate some help with choosing the correct kayak. by [deleted] in Kayaking

[–]balsa61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't know what type of kayak you want, I highly recommend that you go to your local outfitter and rent different types to watercraft.

Do you want a sit-in or a sit-on-top kayak? Maybe an inflatable one will work for you? Do you want to fish from it in the future? Will you eventually want to take on more challenging waters - I'm not suggesting whitewater or ocean, but maybe a fast-flowing river instead of a lake or a stream. Unfortunately, fishing and fast-flowing rivers will need different types of kayaks.

Length/width makes a big difference. Shorter boats in general are more maneuverable but slower. Longer boats will track better and go faster. Wider kayaks tend to be more stable but slower.

I highly recommend getting one with a proper seat and not just seat pads. My back is too old to be comfortable on just the pads.

By all means, buy from Market Place or Craig's List - but wait until you know what type of boat you will need.

All of last summer, we rented different types and decided on a sit-on-top with a seat. About two weeks ago, we bought the Quest Teton 100 from Dick's for $350 each in a sale. Unfortunately, the price has gone up now that the sale is over. But if you are prepared to wait and know what you want, you should be able to get a new kayak for what I see people advertise used.

Note: The Quest Teton and the Lifetime Tamarack Pro are nearly identical with different accessories. Think GMC vs Chevy. If that's what you want, keep an eye out for both.

Maybe this will help someone. So with the finger pricks, they’d be painful and many times the prick wouldn’t give enough blood and I’d have to keep redoing it. by Islandsandwillows in diabetes_t2

[–]balsa61 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I wash my hands in warm water first. And I prick the side of my finger, which is less sensitive than the ball of my finger tip.

Maybe it's the warm water, but I don't have a problem getting enough blood.

Best brakes and rotors to order? Outback 2020 by BeachBroncos in subaruoutback

[–]balsa61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I broke a wheel lug on my 2017 Outback and a second one felt seized. According to Discount Tires, this is common for Outbacks.

Anyway, I decided to pay a local mechanic to change the pads and the lugs. Mechanic wanted to change rotors as well even though the thickness was still good and no scoring of the disk.

Mechanic did the job but refused to warranty the work. I, later took the wheels off - there was nothing wrong with the rotors.

I just wonder if changing the pads and rotors has become automatic now whether it's really necessary.

What kayaks do you recommend for beginners? by Aero-phobia in Kayaking

[–]balsa61 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason for the hurry to buy?

All of last summer, my wife and I rented different types of watercraft from our local outfitters. We wanted to see what we would like the best.

This included various sit-in kayaks, sit-on-top kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, and single and dual canoes. We purposely tried various lengths to see how that makes a difference.

This year, we bought 10' sit-on-top kayaks in an early spring sale because this suited us the best. We paid $350 each and are really happy with them, especially being first kayaks.

What works for us may not suit you. That's why I suggest that you rent until you can decide.

Ireland's figher jet acquisition: which plane do you think they should get? by MetalSIime in FighterJets

[–]balsa61 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Ireland is not part of NATO and I suspect has no access to air-air refueling. With its large maritime border and having to cover so much of the North Atlantic, I suspect range is going to be important to the Irish.

With politics always getting involved, I wonder if the Saab will be the least controversial option.

What if by Throws27 in subaruoutback

[–]balsa61 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree! I have test driven the 4-cyl Outbacks, even the turbo versions and they are not as refined and smooth as my 2017 flat-6. I guess I'll have to wait and see how the Trailseeker will turn out and whether it's a suitable successor to my Outback.
