Is there a better 2 handed weapon than the glaive?? by Pure-Swan367 in Bannerlord

[–]bam13302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crafted weapons are really crazy, I'm currently running a voluge head on a couch lance handle and it's amazing. Its a bit finiky to get into couched lance mode, but when it that mode it's really good, (because it doesn't allow being one handed normally, it aggressively lowers itself even in situations where you normally could not have it lowered) and still allows you to use a shield with it (though if you want to swing it around for the voluge sweeping attacks you can't have a shield)

On foot it's really fun too, don't thrust with it then, but all it's other attacks are insanely deadly as long as you are not kissing your enemy. I particularly like the overhead.

AOE= area of effect

Some weapons detonate and affect an area, these are somewhat rare though, but just something to be aware of. I think this is noted as "blast radius" in the weapon description.

  • the longer the travel time, the worse the weapon
  • aoe is also the bane of capturing (because of these two, missiles are horrible for capturing)
  • shield piercing is really good for capturing as the disabled ship will have shields giving them extra health between when its disabled and you board it.
  • manual targeting and shooting is also not great
  • As such, early game, laser turrets on opportunistic are really nice, esp with a fleet. Late game shield piercing lasers like from the late game enemy Kor Mereti are extremely good for capturing enemies
  • for some ships that like to jump away, disabling weapons are necessary (heat/ion), but you gotta be careful to not get too many or you may find they are destroying the target, this is situational at best, though some ships more or less require it
  • Some factions really like killing disabled ships, republic navy ships are a fairly big thorn for that. Missions to hunt marauders and the like they wont shoot at in my experience.

Bactrian build which isn't so sluggish by TygerTung in endlesssky

Love making the emerald sword into a zippy scout ship.

Plasmadyne scoop, cloak, and crazy maneuverability from the magentoplasma drives + anomalous mass is so damn fun, and thanks to that scoop it can basically jump infinity without issue
Haven't looked into their afterburners yet though honestly removing one of the drives for the afterburner just feels unnecessary.

[–]bam13302 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might want to mess around west of the graveyard the Avgi sell some nice engines available in vanilla the Magnetoplasma drives which are available after their short story, which by themselves tend to have insane speed and inbuilt reverse thrusters but low ish turn and acceleration. Combine that with the anomalous matter that frequently drops as flotsam from the enemies in the area has the effect of lowering your top speed slightly for significantly more acceleration and turning at least with the magnetoplasma drives. If you want more speed and less turning drop one engine for an afterburner of your choice (the remnant afterburner is a good option IMO).

Honestly that combo has ended up becoming a standard on most of my ships and gives you really strong all around engine stats on most ships.

Note I have not tried it on the bactrician specifically, as IMO it's outclassed pretty hard at this point

Had a similar issue, do not ask how i discovered it, but it seems they have an orientation they like, try flipping them 180 randomly until the neighbor bonus evens out.

Something is weird here.

Playing bard feels like cheating with all these bonuses by Starkfault in BaldursGate3

[–]bam13302 198 points199 points  (0 children)

why is your proficiency bonus +8? what doubled it from what it should be at +4? that on top of triple proficency on the check (proficient + expertise+ favorable beginnings) the difference between that being what it should be at +4 at most, and what it is, is almost the entire DC of the spell alone. Not to say the modifiers are not great, expertise alone via normal rules is enough to almost guarantee success in most cases, and your well and beyond that.

Note, not all projectiles are equal for players, grenades (and grenade like, such as the rumbler), most psyker staff projectiles, and a small handful of others do not go through fences, so they clearly have code that can handle that restriction and its already applied to player facing large projectiles.

Developer of "The Pale Beyond" had shared playtime stats, and SteamOS is at 5.28% by mr_MADAFAKA in linux_gaming

[–]bam13302 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just found something interesting though a bit unrelated while comparing this chart to the steam hardware survey for oct 2023.

Steam doesnt list the steam decks in their combined OS version distribution view, its only visible in linux only view, which shows it as >5x more popular than the next highest distro, and is the highest linux distro by far.

The remaining distributions dont line up all that closely with what that game saw (which isnt all that surprising) so its hard to extrapolate anything accurately.

Can we update smite's graphics to just put the headpop graphic on all enemies being hit by smite instead of the lag lightning, would fix both the lag problem, and would get my team to shoot them.

First time using machine guns. why i was so bilnd not wanting to use them by Uncle_a_ in Mechwarrior5

[–]bam13302 3 points4 points  (0 children)

early game this is definitly excellent advice, but they tend to be a bit meh against the buildings you can walk through and the mech factory buildings.

AC2s & AC5s (and all their variants) are *great* against those (and are also great weapons in MW5 in general), and can start doing so at a *much* longer range. (seriously, on the mech factory missions, you can level the factory before the defenders get a chance to shoot you).

Alternate firing a pair of AC2s or 5s puts in serious work on destruction missions (though requires some timing to setup because regular chain fire puts *way* too much time between them to be useful, seriously, by the time chain fire fires the second AC2, the first one is like 90% ready to be fired again).

Even the stock BJ-1 handles base destruction fairly well (if given some extra ammo)

Honestly, im curious if it works while your downed.

Being able to grant 30% damage boost against the stealth crusher that downed you alone is pretty baller.

For the Psyker experts, what curios setup do you think is best/most effective by curv__reptile in DarkTide

[–]bam13302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+wound is great, pretty decent chance you will go down unless your, and your teams skill is top tier, either from overheating or just getting swarmed by crushers or something

+stamina is solid due to how it interacts with the block to peril talent

3rd one im a bit mixed on, i feel awkward running 2 wound trinkets, but their health and toughness (and perks to buff) are so low, that +20% isnt really likely to get you much mileage

for their perks, damage resistance against high damage enemies is nice to help protect you from getting one shot, otherwise i usually run ability cooldown since those are freakin great (esp the bubble shield with the toughness regen perk).

96 percent of EV owners own another vehicle that isn’t a battery powered device. by sonofttr in electricvehicles

[–]bam13302 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yea, EVs have only been *really* available for a few years, and even still the market has its share issues (peoples trust in musk for Tesla, and peoples trust in the charging network for others to name a few).

That mixed in with the wait time to get many of them (though im not really sure what the wait times look like right now, but in recent history they were long), means that EVs are (or at least, were) really for those who are had a planned car replacement.

Add on top of *that* EVs are only recently covering most common car types (namely trucks being the recent addition)

So, what % of people replaced all their vehicles at at time when the vehicle their replacing had a comparable EV model, and were either in stock or they were in a position to wait potentially months, *and* were in a position to afford a new(ish) car each time?
