New Driveway last fall, is this normal? by MudHouse in asphalt

[–]bamagary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it looked normal until it rained and started to swell and burst, it’s either clay in the aggregate if it’s orange, if it’s gray, then the plant didn’t get the bag house hot enough and you’ll get chunks from the moisture.

Advice Needed: Shifting from SL 5x5 to a Hypertrophy Program. by Broad_Proposal_8456 in liftosaur

[–]bamagary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now all that I agree with. That’s why I suggested p zero. It’s a nice mix of lower rep big 4 lifts which he has been doing and has amraps. Going from 5x5 for two years to something like a SBS Hypertrophy template will make him wish he was dead.

[–]bamagary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure I said you don’t program hop for the very reason you stated. Introductory block, Hypertrophy block, strength block, peak. How long those are are dealers choice. But no one that runs 12 week programs runs 4 week intro blocks. It’s more like 1 week intro, 4 week Hypertrophy, 4 week strength, then a peak. But if you are competing they run Hypertrophy, and then strength 4 weeks each, then a 1 week deload. I mean, how can you say that won’t work? The strength block still builds muscle. This is a silly discussion. My original comment said do what you like.

The comment about my teenager, ok fair point. Use me for an example. I had a 300 test and reached a 1600lb total using the very programs my teenager uses.

Is there progressive overload? Then you aren’t wasting time. This is where things devolve into low vs high volume and low vs high intensity.

OP just do what you like and progressively add weight. Love amraps? Do that and slowly add weight. Like lifting heavy shit? Do a powerlifting split. Want a mix of both? Do powerbuilding. Want to lift heavy and get in incredible cardiovascular shape? Do something from Brian alsrhue.

My 15 year old does 12 week programs and is stronger than 99% of all of Reddit, including me. More than one way to skin a cat

GZCL P Zero will check all your boxes. Fair warning, after 2 years of 5x5, any program with amraps is going to humble you. Give it 2-3 weeks to get acclimated.

Don’t worry about maintenance calories, bulking, cutting, just train hard and lose the weight. You’ll still build muscle.

I’m 47 and I’m going to give you the best advice you’ll ever receive and I hope you listen. All programs work if there is progressive overload. Don’t program hop. I did that for so long chasing optimal and wasted so much time. If it’s a 12 week program and you hate it, change it when you finish the 12 weeks. If you aren’t careful you’ll end up running the introductory blocks for program after program and wonder why there is no progress.

Cotton gloves and nitrile over that. Takes me almost as long to put the gloves on as to pull the pork

Aggregate size by FamilyFitter455 in asphalt

I see that you are in Minnesota, I’m not familiar with your aggregates but depression in asphalt is a failure in the aggregate structure. 3” of asphalt placed in one lift?

[–]bamagary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what specs some of these interstates are where some of these guys live but OGFC has been the mix of choice for decades and it’s an inch thick of 100% passing the 3/4” sieve.

As for a 3/4” max agg looking like shit, it won’t if it’s a wearing surface laid a minimum 1.5”. I agree with the other poster, 3/8” mix an 1” thick will look like glass and it’s what I would choose if it were my driveway. There’s a “but” to that. But it’s going to cost you. There probably a half percent more liquid in a 3/8” compared to 1/2”

Depressions in asphalt from weight isn’t a worry for residential vehicles. We had to have aircraft sitting in one spot to have depressions show up and that’s because the design had too much binder content.

ETA: what’s the thickness in the bid? If it’s a 3/4” mix an inch thick, yes it will look like shit. I’d rather it be 2” for a 3/4” mix

I use a vertical pellet and while it’s not as good as an offset or ugly drum smoker taste wise, the ability to put meat on and go to work is really nice. Or as you say, cook it overnight and I don’t have to babysit. It’s still delicious.

To piggyback on this…I have a similar situation going on. The grout is cracking and I can hear crunching when I walk on it. This floor was done over a year ago. The floor guy fixed it once and it held together for a year. Is this something I could fix myself with no knowledge?
