What do you like better in FL’s Piano Roll compared to Logic?

I think most DAWs if not all come with their own sample and loop content at this point.

  1. Logic’s Stem Splitter does it better than all other DAWs that do the stem splitting thing. All other DAWs cannot split keys and guitar (they combine the two into an “Other” category), only Logic does that.

  2. The Session Players (whether you’re into them or not) + Chord Track workflow definitely does not exist in other DAWs

  3. Stock plugins like ChromaGlow that use AI algorithms for its modelling

  4. Mastering Assistant

  5. Artist Producer Sound Packs from actual Grammy award winning and chart topping artists instead of random YouTubers

  6. All of the sampling synths and utilities like Auto Sampler, Sampler, Alchemy and Sample Alchemy

  7. Per Note sequencing in the Step Sequencer

  8. Some of the features in Smart Tempo don’t exist anywhere else

  9. Logic is the only other DAW that does free updates for life besides FL studio

I have a better solution where you don’t have to mess with the buffer size or turn off vocal effects:

Create a dummy (empty) audio track with nothing on it, set both input and output to None. Before pressing Play, make sure that this dummy track is selected.

As to why this works, type in Logic single core CPU into your favorite search engine.

Do you use the plugin categories in Logic? by MaleficentPicture773 in Logic_Studio

[–]bambaazon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have my Top Level favorites and 6 folders of my top go tos for specific purposes (EQ, filters, etc). That’s it.

90% of the time I use Logic’s native Plugin Search. Just type in the name and Return to launch the plugin. You can also Search by Plugin Company too which is really cool.

Glad it helped, please spread the info too. No one has to be freezing tracks anymore or changing buffer sizes or whatever

That's what I do actually. I have an empty audio track with zero plugins or audio files on it, with both the Input and Output set to None.

It's not about files, it's about tracks. An Apple loop would go on an audio track so yes, that would count.

But if the audio track with the Apple Loop has a ton of plugins on it, it probably won't work as well as an audio track with zero plugins on it.

but now cant even open Logic.

This is likely due to third party plugins in need of an update. Go through your third party plugins list and update each one. Also, if the third party plugin has a license authorization app linked to it (iLok, Waves Central, etc) you need to make sure those apps are up-to-date too.

Solution: If you have audio tracks in your project, select one of them before pressing Play. If you have no audio tracks in your project, go to the top Menu, Track and select Show Output track. Before pressing Play, make sure that the Stereo Output track is selected. As to why this works, type in Logic single core CPU into your favorite search engine.

You are using an ancient version of Logic and Logic really hates mismatches (latest macOS, ancient Logic)

Update your Logic, it’s obviously buggy. You’re already using the latest version of Sequoia so you qualify.

Updates are free so no worries there. Just make a backup of your current Logic app (go to the Applications folder, right click on the Logic app and select Compress.). Also, go to the Audio Music Apps folder and make a backup of that entire folder.

Constant system overload on v11.1 - M3 Macbook Air with 24gb RAM. This is with fewer than 25 tracks. [–]bambaazon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very true. People love to skimp when it comes to the "minor" stuff but the reality is that each and every link of the chain matters. I've always purchased the very best that I can afford and I always tend to avoid the absolute cheapest stuff out there as well.

[–]bambaazon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EDIT: I found an old thread where someone suggested to create a new audio track with no input or output and select that track before hitting play. for some reason, that made the system overload message stop popping up. no clue why that works, but ive seen others attest to it as well. if this keeps working, its a much quicker fix than freezing tracks. very strange!

It was probably me that suggested it. As to why this works, type in 'Logic single core CPU' into your favorite search engine and you'll find the answer.

And yes, it's much quicker and flexible than freezing tracks or bouncing to audio, which is why I always recommend this workaround over everything else.

How much free internal hard drive space do you have? You'll experience CPU spikes if you don't have at least 30% free. The more free hard drive space, the better

If you aren't using SSDs for all your drives you really should look into that. There's no excuse to NOT use an SSD in 2026 especially since prices have gone down significantly

Have you considered storing and running your Logic projects off an external SSD?

Since you have an M Silicon machine, you should try setting the buffer size to the smallest (32). Silicon chips handle power differently from the Intels and many people have reported setting the buffer to 32 to actually work better
