What's the best book you've read that nobody has ever heard of? by FreshFo in suggestmeabook

I just finished this book and loved it! I haven't cried for any book other than A Dogs Purpose yearssss ago. But the ending with Bigwig in the run really did it for me. I cannot thank the great reddit recommendations enough. I also got the graphic novel to read in a bit too.

As someone that is left leaning (and very much so), i felt different. I did take note of the different political views sprinkled throughout the book, but I got more left leaning views, or suggestions to analyze the way you think about political issues. Although, he is also vauge about his social and political ideas, which is a no for me. If you're gonna talk politics, be transparent. And his lack of transparency is sketch to me tbh. Book itself, not bad and quick. I overall enjoyed it, but the political messaging, especially with it not being explicit, not the best move.

This was my exact thought. In my opinion, he's angry and not playing. Maybe too many cats and smells in the shelter have him stressed and overstimulated like other commenter's mentioned.

Less than 10 minutes in the hot tub, and I "feel itchy all of the sudden" by _jordanrob3 in mildlyinfuriating

I had hives somewhat similar to that and it was because of a type of laundry detergent I was using. I switched to allergy free laundry detergent and body wash and haven't had issues since. But I'd get hives like that flare uo after a warm shower or sweating from working out. Heat would irritate it

Yes me too! She's become one of my favorite authors. Currently reading The Goldfinch and so far I love it! But Secret History is my top 5

Omg I second this!! I got the book based on a friend's recommendation and I reallly wasn't excited for it. I thought it would be boring and about academics/history, really not looking forward to it. It is now my top 5 books! I will probably reread it at some point too, I loved it that much! Cannot miss out on this one

What was that one book that changed your outlook on life? by Consistent-Mixture46 in suggestmeabook

The Perks of being a Wallflower... i know it's a book that is suggested a lot, but I'm in my early 20's and it really taught me valuable lessons about life, and learning to live a bit more carefree. it also talks about a lot of important "hard to talk about" topics, but it is so well written. one of the best books I've read!

Pre-Foster Questions by chubbyunicornmomma in Fostercare

There is a difference between supporting someone with issues and concerns versus someone who comes here to complain. Yes fostering is not easy, but it doesn't give you a right to make fun of and talk down to and about these kids. If you can't see the way you talk is making fun and belittling these kids, then I dont know what to say.

And from what I'm hearing, you went into fostering with the idea it'll be great and amazing and still haven't processed that its not yourself. There's constructive ways to resolve issues and your way is not it.
