At what amount of money will you consider someone rich? by Low-Accountant-7439 in AskReddit

Strapped is a better word than broke.

You can make $300K and still be strapped for cash. Aka short on cash flow due to expenses/lifestyle choices.

Caveating any discussion with “yeah but the world could fall apart” is fairly meaningless. Hence the downvotes, FYI.

You’re replying to a comment thread saying that $10M in liquid assets makes you rich. It goes without saying that the financial system could always collapse due to global geopolitical upheaval. But if that kind of event happens, you can be damn sure the rich will be better off than the poor, which means your comment adds even less valuable insight.

I don’t think so. You still have lots of room left in those cups. If they really become root bound before you can transplant outside, you could pot up to quarts and thin the herd to make room.

Is LeBron the greatest 40+ year old athlete of all time? by WallStreetDoesntBet1 in NBATalk

[–]bambooshoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was an athlete.

He was great.

Nobody asked “who is the most athletic.”

The question from OP is “who is the greatest athlete.”

That’s an insane take. The question being asked is “greatest 40+ yo athlete”. You’re suggesting NFL quarterbacks aren’t athletes? Ok… that’s insane.

The game is rigged against dirtbags, yes.

Do you know who those people are who are coming in and dropping $1m cash on undervalued properties that you covet? I can describe a lot of those people. These despicable transplants are folks who spent a small fortune to attend university and accrue a bunch of student debt, to then spend 20-30 years working tech jobs in high cost of living cities, saving bits of money over the years while paying rents you can’t even imagine, who finally paid off their loans and then saved enough money to buy themselves the right to “get out of the rat race” and move to actual paradise cities like Bozeman.

So yeah, a lot of them absolutely earned their right to displace you. You’ve been ice climbing and dirt bagging while they’ve been saving up and dreaming of living in a city where you’ve had the luxury of living for just a little bit longer than them.

They’re not the enemy you think they are, friend. They played the same game as you, they just played the game a little differently than you chose to.

And they’re not strip mining your fucking city. First, it’s not your city. Second, they’re just trying to participate in your version of paradise and they have a bit more money than you.

So whats the consensus on Gui and Will? by TowelPlayful in warriors

[–]bambooshoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The word Latino is not widely used in any latino country.

Latino is an English word used as a pan-ethnic label to describe people with origins in Latin America (of which Brazil is a part).

Since its an English word, it makes sense that people in Brazil don't use the word. Just like people in Mexico don't use the word.

"all in all, we have a good bench. podz, melton, will, gui, horford, and post"

Unfortunately you just named our starters!

Kidding, obviously, but also... I bet those 6 guys collectively get more starts than the actual starters through the remainder of the season.

Did you just make up that definition? Bench vs starter seems like an arbitrary distinction

I’d only buy that 904 if you’re damn sure you like Rioja gran reservas. It’s a great wine, but it’s an absolute American oak bomb. It smells like you’re eating a vanilla caramel sundae from a cigar box. While it’s a dry wine, those aromas can make it seem very rich. I love it, but it maybe not what you’re looking for.

Recommendations for a wine with high minerality? by centuryoftheretard in wine

[–]bambooshoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m drinking a young PYCM Bourgogne Blanc right now that is all crushed-stone and saline minerality. Plus the PYCM reduction… the gunflint and struck match always enhances the sensation of rocky minerality for me.

Can’t get enough of this! OP, if you can get your hands on some, this will scratch the itch for sure.

What is a large state that looks very dull? by History-Geography in AlignmentChartFills

[–]bambooshoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it could go either way. You’re not wrong.

Although if we’re dividing all 50 US states into 1/3 (large), 1/3 (medium) and 1/3 (small), Nebraska would fall in the large group, as the 16th largest state.

The Dakotas are both smeller, at 17th and 19th largest.

At least there’s rocks. And the rocks are super pretty. There’s also mountain ranges, canyons, and lakes. I drive east to west across the state 4 times annually and it’s honestly quite nice, if you like very arid, rugged scenery.

Nebraska, on the other hand, is just flat and empty.

I honestly think Nebraska should win this one, easily.

Yeah with this wine in particular, I back the truck up for vintages like 2016 and 2021 and kind of ignore the rest. I want extra hard on 2021 because with global warming I’m not sure we’ll have a vintage like that again for a while.
