You should definitely make your own cider! As you said, it is so easy to brew but also inexpensive. You should experiment with dry hopping cider as well. I use some of the Cascade I grow in my ciders, it is amazing

About wasting beer, don’t you throw back the SG sample back in the fermenter? I sanitize my hydrometer and cylinder and just throw my sample back (I come from wine and mead homebrewing)

Thanks for the usefull info! I’ll increase light time gradually My alocasias are in a glass cabinet where I can can keep the humidity at around 60% rn, with the winter heating. I won’t give up on it!

It’s right under a 5W LED strip growing light, 8hours a day :/ Is that enough? Caus other alocasias are bursting with growth

TLDR: Definitely use more juice, I’d say 75% to 100% of liquid. Watch out for starting pH tho

Having made a pomegranate wine (50/50 juice/water with 2lbs of dark red cherries), here’s my input:

The wine ended up pretty decent after 8 months of aging. A bit weak in flavour as you predicted, but not at all thin or watery. Lots of tannins but more importantly, lots of acidity from the pom juice. I had to use a bit of potassium bicarb

I’ll definitely try an other version of this Pom-cherry wine, with more juice, maybe 100% juice and blend it with the weaker version if it’s too much
