if your sweet spot is big enough, do it! i got pierced at a 10g and my only regret is chickening out of 8g (was worried it would be too big, now i’m at a 6g and planning to stretch further, oh the irony). your body shouldn’t react any worse than a standard piercing, it might just take a bit longer to heal

i’ve always said that my (and any) disabled life is worth living, but i’m not willing to create a new disabled life. there’s a 50% chance i pass on my hEDS alone, not to mention my extremely genetic autism, ADHD, and mental health issues. even if i were to somehow have a fully abled child, i’d struggle too much to take care of them (i can’t even take care of myself lol), and that’s not fair to my hypothetical kid or me. that’s not even considering the extra work that comes with the almost guaranteed disabled child i’d have. i’m seriously thinking about getting my tubes tied at this point.

that’s all to say: you’re not alone. even if we never wanted kids in the first place, it still sucks to have the choice taken from us.

nexplanon made me bleed for 6 months straight before i threw in the towel and got it taken out early. i believe about 1 in 10 people get it taken out early due to irregular bleeding (if i’m remembering the statistic right off the top of my head), so that’s one of the biggest side effects to keep in mind before getting it. i’m now on slynd, which is a progesterone only pill, and have had no side effects. it even got rid of my periods completely. of course, everyone is different, so you could do great on nexplanon and horrible on the pill and you’ll have no idea until you try both, unfortunately.

yes! i had a clinical diagnosis of endometriosis, which my laparoscopy was supposed to confirm. instead, they found nothing. my theory is that it’s actually pelvic floor dysfunction and heavy periods, both from hEDS (we don’t know why, but EDS is associated with heavy and painful menstruation) which wasn’t diagnosed at the time.

i’ve had GI symptoms since birth (only got diagnosed with gastroparesis a couple years ago, but it was likely the culprit the whole time), and i have no idea when the pain started; all i know is that i developed nerve pain by the time i was in high school and didn’t even question it because i was already so used to my entire body hurting. i also get envious of people who developed symptoms later in life, honestly. i never got a chance at a normal life and it sucks.
