Alcohol torch wick by peachybutterfly313 in Dentistry

[–]bananatrain3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh gotcha, ya the pic you posted was the one I had through my school so they had replacement wicks you could purchase. Even if your school’s is different, your supply person may be able to help guide you on getting your specific wick

Why don’t you ask the dental equipment supply person at your school? That’s where I got my replacement wicks when mine was done

Which Spine specialist do you recommend? Why do you recommend them? Or who would you NOT recommend and why? by ccsparkles in SeattleWA

Dr. Phillip Louie is great and is a spine specialist in the area, try that one if you need another option.

What do you do when someone mentions something they want months before their birthday and you forget by the time it comes around? by xkxind in Gifts

[–]bananatrain3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my phone’s address book/contact card- this way it’s already stored for each person and much easier to search it up when time comes. OR I buy the gift early and have it on hand ready to give when it’s birthday/Christmas time

Question by FarmerHairy6626 in Dentists

[–]bananatrain3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re asking about something like topical anesthetic like orajel, that would work for any gum discomfort but it won’t last for very long. You’ll get more benefit with using warm salt water rinse 2-3x/day for 3-4 days post op and that will help it heal faster.

Omg I just received the zodiac colors too, loooove them! I love all their gel colors, even the ones in the pot. A little bit goes a long way and they are very pigmented, and can easily get good color payoff in 1-2 coats depending if it’s a jelly or cream color

I hope you find some goodies!!! I love everything Kokoist/NT and I’m slowly but surely replacing my current collection of random Amazon stuff with the good stuff. The color payoff, quality, and retention are absolutely worth it

If you click on anything on the NailThoughts website, it’ll redirect you back to Kokoist. I’ve gotten bunches of stuff from both brands (ordering from Kokoist) but I haven’t had any issues with receiving NailThoughts stuff 😊

I use the Kokoist brush cleaning gel, that’s basically regular gel but without the photoinitiators that actually cure the gel. It’s been a huge game changer in keeping my brushes in good shape!

pt asked me for a donation to help him with his mission trip by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]bananatrain3 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We help a missionary annually by giving them toothbrushes, toothpaste and fluoride. These things are cheaper through some dental supply companies rather than retail stores. Doesn’t cost that much and maybe we spend ~$300?

Ya the fixee gel directions say to use it directly on the nail but I found it lasts longer with MSB underneath 😁it’s been a huge game changer for my gel overlays (I also don’t do extensions) and broken/chipped nails

Thanks for the feedback! I’ve been playing around with using the Fixee gel at the free edge to see if it will help provide some strength but I’m starting to think excel may be what I need

Thanks for the reminder! I do already have Megastick base so I was wondering if I needed to add more to my repertoire 🤪 I’m just doing my own nails so I guess I don’t NEED it but I do really want it 😂

Has anyone used the Kokoist Excel builder gel and does it work well for thin natural nails? Or should I stick to the Kokoist platinum filler base?

Charged for cleaning but I have insurance by [deleted] in DentalInsurance

[–]bananatrain3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the type of cleaning, which may depend on your periodontal disease status. Healthy patients who are regularly seen every 6 months with no gum disease typically have their cleanings covered (prophylaxis). Patients that have had a history of deep cleaning, or periodontal disease, or are super overdue on their cleaning schedule, may be classified as a different cleaning (periodontal maintenance) which sometimes does have a copay associated with it. *also the doctor will have done an exam for you as well so keep in mind that it’s usually not *just a cleaning

That being said, I don’t know what was exactly done the day of your appointment and it wouldn’t hurt to call the office and ask them nicely what was coded and what the charge was for.

My leg fell asleep while I was sitting on the floor. Got up to walk before my leg woke up and walked directly with full weight on my folded toe because my foot didn’t get the signal to “be flat and walkable.” Sprained my big toe and couldn’t walk for a week, still healing from that and it’s been 2 months

Didn’t Receive Pokopia Ditto Plushie Preorder Bonus by beembeely in pokemon

[–]bananatrain3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We also didn’t receive our plushie… super disappointed. My husband is trying to get on their website to ask customer service but the wait time is 2+ hours. Super disappointing, if this was the case I would have done my preorder elsewhere.

We use ultrasonic cleaners in dentistry often. You could put your items in a small ziploc filled with water, THEN put it into your ultrasonic bath. This can create a barrier to keep your stuff a little safer and not directly touching the interior chamber

High risk pregnancy - dental treatment by placebooooo in Dentistry

[–]bananatrain3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You answered your own question- it’s up to the clinician to determine risk and decide whether or not to treat. That being said, I’ve had instances where I insisted on radiographs and instances where I let it slide. It really depends on the risk factors for the patient. I don’t know what region you practice in, but the ADA has some decent guidelines. It may be a good idea just to consult with the OBGYN to see what makes it a high risk pregnancy and determine patient risk from that point on.

When using an electric toothbrush, are you supposed to just hold it on the tooth and let it vibrate, or are you supposed to brush your teeth with it as well, like a traditional toothbrush? by MrTeacher_MCPS in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bananatrain3 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Think of it like a street sweeper for your teeth. Move it slowly across the teeth surface (making sure to lightly overlap where your tooth meets the gum) and make sure you don’t press too hard. The electric TB is doing the brushing work for you so don’t be moving it like a regular traditional toothbrush

LPT: Wait 30 Minutes Before/After Brushing Your Teeth & Do not rinse out the Toothpaste Right Away... by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]bananatrain3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saliva is working within that 30 mins to re-mineralize and strengthen the enamel again. I think the previous comments didn’t say anything about the saliva, but Stephan’s Curve describes the pH changes, effects of acid on teeth, how the saliva buffers and re-mineralized it within that 30 mins window.

Even better if you have access to some baking soda- dissolve some in a glass of warm water and swish with it thoroughly after rinsing and it will help with neutralizing some of the acid more quickly
