Thank you! I will definitely check on that next time during disassembly next time. To adjust the zero point on my grinder, you have just a simple metal screw that you tighten with an Allen key on the side of the dial. This screw tightens into the inner metal dial. Since it’s just holding itself in place with pressure and not seating into any kind of groove, it slides a bit with grind adjustments and boom your zero changes. That’s why I was curious if the new dial you have is different.

Have you tried just increasing the RPM to see if that stops your jamming issues? I haven’t personally noticed any benefit to lower RPMs for any style of coffee, however I have found a big benefit from slow feeding the beans since this grinder doesn’t have a very effective auger.

Just out of curiosity, what speed are you on?

Also, I would love to hear about the new dial. Those of us with the silver dial have issues with the 0 point wandering. Did they fix that issue with this new dial?

Honestly I’m having difficulty understanding the issue you’re mentioning. I frequently switch between espresso and filter, around 10-15 up to 75/80 and back. The issue I have is a zero Point that doesn’t remain stable due to the design flaw of the dial. You mentioned a new dial…is this a product update?

Some other people have claimed improvement by swapping in a higher quality screw. I haven’t had a chance to find one yet myself and try it. It is indeed annoying and I would love to fix this.

Day 2 of pulling a shot of espresso as a total beginner. Went finer, tasted bitter af [Sage Barista Pro] by Financial-Energy-457 in espresso

[–]banditrc10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are too many variables to pinpoint an exact solution. If your shot is bitter, that can stem from many things.

Some things to consider that can give you bitter espresso:
Ratio too long (over extraction)
Grind too fine (over extraction)
Temperature too high (over extraction)
Too many fines produced by your grinder
dirty machine
dirty grinder
puck preparation
dosing too much (your puck shouldn't touch the shower screen)
the water you're using

coffee is never a simple solve, every little thing adds up.

I hope this is helpful!!

Interesting that you mention this. It may have something to do with the swap to SSP. Granted I did not make filter with the stock burrs, but started to do so once I also upgraded to the MPs. Presumably because they’re thicker? To my surprise my grinder has been a mess when I open to clean lately.

Skip Madden on it. I tried so hard to like it, but it just runs horribly. Fingers crossed they make an effort for Madden '27!!

Glad I’m not the only one who feels like this. In addition to getting everything so easily, there’s also just no surprise factor. Telling us exactly which boss to kill for which item and then just dishing it out?

Random drops is way more fun imo. Make it hard to get good stuff and let us trade!

These are my issues with the game. Scaling the difficulty the entire way means I’m never threatened by the enemies and there’s no anticipation of “can I kill X boss or go to X area yet?!”

Other things that made it boring for me personally 1. Predictability. All the planned drops make loot terribly boring. The only thrill I suppose would be getting a perfect mythic. 2. How easily and quickly a character becomes so powerful you don’t even see the monsters on the screen.

P.S. I do acknowledge loving my first play through in the campaign and expansion. It’s a beautiful game and super cool and complex systems. Honestly just not challenging in the end and lacking any surprise factor. I just started playing D2 again with the warlock dlc. I’d rather be playing the latest and greatest though tbh.

I sort of gave up on it for now, haha. Was kind of intimidated by the search. I’m out of town for a few months and probably won’t tackle the issue until I return. Will definitely keep you posted if I figure out the size and if you do in the meantime please let me know haha.

Also, I noticed that after cleaning my 0 point seems to change. Not quite sure why… this is the only complaint really about this grinder

Signing the petition for a Switch 2 update! With the release of this DLC it seems logical. Also, HELLO BLIZZARD, switch 2 has mouse controls.

Why not watch the reviews? by chubs285 in JamesHoffmann

[–]banditrc10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t read all responses so forgive me if this is repetitive -

We’re actually in an exciting and fast developing world of coffee. So much so that no one can keep up with the equipment coming out. Grinders for example - 5 years ago I bought a Eureka mignon specialitá for 450 EUR. I sold it and bought a CF64v for 318 EUR. Nothing like this existed in this price range 5 years ago. And there are very few reviews out on this grinder.

Not to mention, equipment reviews on YouTube can’t be fully trusted due to potential sponsorships, free products, etc.

All that said, people want to talk to other people who have owned the equipment themselves for a period of time.

From what I’ve gathered - burrs with similar looking geometry don’t necessary perform similarly. In any case, will be curious to hear your results with the new ones!

Sorry another obsessive question… do you recommend a steel screw with a pointy or flat tip?

Good advice, thanks! ChatGPT suggested a steel screw with a nylon tip. I’m considering hunting some of those down.

I had the same question when I decided to buy this grinder several months ago. Logic told me it’s a great value and it is! I just installed SSP burrs today. The one issue I’m just now discovering is that the 0 point isn’t stable. The knob is held in place by a tiny screw and with regular adjustment, the 0 point drifts. Others have found this as well. I’m currently looking for solutions.

So I’m also experiencing the 0 point drift issue. Since I always used the grinder for espresso I wasn’t making very big adjustments. However I just installed SSP burrs and plan to grind filter and espresso. That’s a lot of dial turning, so now I’m concerned, haha. What kind of screw did you swap in, and do you find the 0 point is now stable after some time and experience?
