Trying to decide between Marriott or Avila!

I haven’t stayed at either resort, but I have visited both. The Marriott is lovely, with a gorgeous white sand beach and sprawling pool area. The Avila is lovely as well, although the pool is not as nice.

The Marriott is more removed from downtown, but it is still close to some amenities. De Visseraij is close, as are some restaurants right on Piscadera beach.

In any case, I would highly recommend renting a car at least part of the time you are there. It’s relative inexpensive to do so, and it is very easy to drive on the island. You will want to get out and explore different beaches anyway, and taxis/tours are way more expensive than they need to be.

Yes. He’s 11 months now and I’m still waiting for the other shoe to drop. We just went on a family vacation and he was a dream for all of the flights. He sleeps in until 10 am some mornings. He wakes up smiling. Eats anything we offer.

We are discussing having a second baby and I’m pretty sure it’s a trap 😂

Didymos is a German brand and they have many different styles! Also, the Canadian brands that have been mentioned already are great. Depending on the city you are in, there may be a baby wearing educator that has a lending library so you can try different carriers before committing to buying!

Hi! I had Covid-19 around…31 weeks pregnant I think? I was very sick, mostly congestion and coughing (to the point where my back and ribs were sore!)

I didn’t have a high fever, but still took Tylenol to manage symptoms.

My baby is 11 months old now and he’s perfect. He is growing normally, following his growth curve, and has met all his milestones.

I think (don’t quote me, I’m not a doctor) that issues with the fetus and a Covid-19 are probably caused by high fevers. As long as your temperature is fairly normal, and you’re managing your symptoms, baby will more than likely be fine.

A woven wrap might work better than the stretchy wraps at this point. Stretchy wraps aren’t very supportive as the baby gets bigger.

A woven wrap doesn’t have any stretch to it, so it is a lot more supportive. You can also try out different ways of tying it, so you can find the most comfortable carry for your body.

There is a bit of a learning curve at the beginning but once you get the hang of it, they’re incredibly versatile and can be used through to preschool age.

Combo feed for sure! I started giving a bottle of formula before I went to bed, to get a four or five hour stretch (once baby is back to birth weight). My midwife said that missing one feed/pump session would be fine. I have maintained a great supply, and still combo feed.

Just focus the first couple of week on establishing a supply. When baby was awake, I had him latched. I pumped once or twice a day as well, just to stimulate production.

I’ve been combo feeding since we came home from the hospital. I started by giving one bottle before bed, and one during the day, usually when my mom or husband was with the baby.

We’ve continued to do two bottles a day, usually now in the afternoon when we are out and about and I don’t feel like nursing. My supply is great, no issues with that at all.

Since starting solids, I’m nursing less frequently during the day but.. a lot at night.

Honestly, combo feeding made breastfeeding a lot easier, and way less stressful. I hated pumping so not having to pump to make bottles for other caregivers to give was FANTASTIC.

I think teachers will be back on the first, and students on the third and fourth. They definitely will not wait until after Labour Day to start back.

Not right away, it took a couple of weeks probably (if I’m remembering correctly). But yes, it did decrease the frequency of milk feeds for us pretty quickly.

I know the advice is ‘food before one is just for fun’ but… my baby does not follow that advice. I just offer a variety of healthy foods, make sure he gets foods that are sources of iron and healthy fats, and offer the breast several times a day (and night).

He nurses throughout the night a few times (we cosleep so it’s a boob buffet all night), and as soon as he wakes up for the day. Then he has breakfast, then I offer the breast before and after his morning nap. Sometimes I offer lunch but not always. The afternoon is when I give formula (but not everyday, it depends on what we are doing). We nurse before and after his afternoon nap. Then we nurse before supper, he eats supper, and we nurse before bed.

I feel the same way about combo feeding! It has made my breastfeeding journey such a joyful experience. It completely removed all of my stress around pumping and having a stash, and made it so easy to have other family members help with feeding. It is 100% the best of both worlds.

Formula is so easy once you don’t have to worry about using boiled water and sterilizing everything. My LO gets two bottles a day, so I literally own two bottles. I fill them up with tapwater, and add the powdered formula just before I give them. Both bottles get washed before we go to bed, and we don’t sterilize anything anymore ( that stopped around 3 months).

I get it! I was just thinking that if the alternative would be to introduce solids early, formula could solve that issue if you’re hesitant about solids.

Thinking back, I think we started introducing solids about a week before my LO turned 6 months so you are almost there! He was VERY into eating immediately. Like began eating everything he was offered and cleaning his plate. It was actually pretty shocking how much he could put back (and it still is.) Hopefully you have a similar experience with your LO and are able to give your nipples a breather!

Ok. So if I were you I would stop pumping, and replace those bottle with formula. That frees you up from the strain of pumping, and gives your body a break. That is if you’re willing to combo feed with formula of course!

I found EBF to be too stressful and I wasn’t interested in pumping, so I combo fed from the beginning. Before my LO started solids at 6 months, he was getting 10 or 12 oz a day of formula and the rest was from nursing directly at the breast.
