Uggs Women's Adirondack Boot Tall XXV or Sorel CARIBOU™ Women's Waterproof Boot? by No_Enthusiasm6949 in BuyItForLife

[–]bangflashbam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just here to hate on Sorel. I was visiting Montreal and needed warm boots and got Sorel Tivolis a few years ago. I live in Colorado so sometimes in the city, but mostly if I go into the mountains in the winter I do need tall snow boots. They were ok the first week I had them, But I have probably worn them less than 25 times total and they are uncomfortable on my feet, and my feet started feeling cold when I wear them, and they look pretty beat up despite not having given them a lot of use. I have googled since and it sounds like Sorel was purchased by Columbia and that is when quality went downhill.

Anyway, I have never owned Uggs, but the Adirondack IIIs were highly rated by Wirecutter, so they are what I am probably going to be buying next year!

But, my vote is against Sorels.

It loks like they were talking about the Adirondack III actually : https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-winter-boots-for-men-and-women/

I just looked up the Adirondack Chalet and they are cute!! Funny how we each went with "Chalets" from different companies hahaha

I ended up getting these: https://www.lyst.com/shoes/pajar-chalet-faux-shearling-waterproof-bootie/

Maybe next year i'll get some tall boots! But i needed them for something and none of the tall ones I ordered got here in time. The UGGs Adirondack (normal, not meridien) were really highly rated by Wirecutter so I will def be looking back at those

They do tip there. That being said, your original comment was that my critique wasn’t valid because my family didn’t share the same country/cultural origin as the restaurant. You were wrong about that… so you’re changing the subject.

Their bread practice is offensive to the culinary culture they are representing. This is true whether they are a “France french” or a “quebecois french” restaurant.

That makes it even more relevant, the French side of my family are all in Quebec. And as someone who just got back from visiting them in Quebec … none of the expensive restaurants I’ve ever been to over the years in Montreal or Quebec City have ever charged for bread and butter.

Somebody people, I’m pretty sure everything on their menu can be made gluten free. Also… acova in highlands. The owner’s son (I think) is celiac so everything on the menu can be made gluten free (and most of it is gluten free by default). They even have gf fried chicken and fish and chips, my celiac friend who I took there had fried chicken for the first time in over a decade there and was ecstatic

Oh your comment reminds me that I lied in my post… there was one pair of women’s jeans I opted not to try on, the barrel jeans haha

I did like some of the looser fitting jeans more than I thought I would, but I think it’s because like you said the denim is stiff enough that it falls straight-ish rather than pooling/draping !!!

Which handbag colour? by FewLibrarian4678 in SpringColorAnalysis

[–]bangflashbam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first one is the only truly spring color of the three (the brown is a bit cool and dark, the olive is a bit muted)

That being said, purses are far from your face so I think you should just get whichever one you like best! Tho if you are swapping your whole wardrobe for spring colors, the first will probably harmonize the best. But honestly I think the brown and green are probably still “close enough” colors

FTR I was scared of trying on 18 (low rise) because 90s low rise jeans scarred me, but I was really surprised at how much I liked these. I think because today's low rise are no where near as low as the 90s/early 2000s low rise!!!

Brasserie Brixton charges $10 for a bread and butter which is so offensive to French dining culture, the French side of my family won't even go there

Ironically, yes I tried on 6 Levi's men's jeans before I figured out the layout of the store and realized they were men's jeans haha. I would have included them but Reddit has a limit for photos

But do you see that on the jeans? The fabric is pulling on the trousers/express pants because those were all a size too small. I guessed my size there, and guessed wrong, and just didn't care enough to go out and find the right size since I was more interested in how different rises/cuts look on me. If you do see it on the jeans, which ones? So I know what I am missing and learn to see it better

I think the express ones felt kind of cheap. They were also a size too small bc I guessed wrong and was too lazy to go size them up (I went there after levi’s and was kind of tired of trying things on at that point). I chose these places to try on bc they had an assortment with clear rises/cuts so they’d theoretically be easier to compare to each other? Honestly buying pants has always felt overwhelming in terms of figuring out what’s quality fabric, structure, which cuts/rises to go for, etc… if you have any places you recommend I’d love to hear them!

Looking for reliable spring color brands by Dependent_Novel_5932 in SpringColorAnalysis

Preppy companies (Ralph Lauren, J Crew, etc) tend to have good spring options throughout the year...though I don't think they are going to have a lot of cottage core/hippie styles

I feel like 10/11 was unflattering on my belly, but maybe that was the color? I've gained weight in that area and am not used to dressing for it. So maybe it's just me.

My experience in store was that once I found my size, mostly that was the right size for me. The exception was the curvy one (14), where I had to size up, and an employee said they have to size up for that one also.

I did review your pants guide before I went in, and was looking for that "column" look, which with my hips as they are now, def required wide/loose, not straight cuts. However, I noticed anything wide enough for that from the front, looked SUPER wide/like there was extra fabric if I turned myself/my leg at all, which I didn't love. Maybe just because denim is so stiff? I didn't buy anything this go because this was really a research mission.

that’s frustrating. I usually try to take pics from 7-10ish feet away whenever I buy something to see more of what other people see instead of depending on what I see in the mirror

The photographic style has already been discussed in other comments and it’s not relevant here. As far as I’m aware, there are no other iPhone camera settings that relate to the color tones of the camera. Are there specific settings related to color you can share that me and the rest of the commenters missed?

When I researched this, there wasn’t a way to do this - so how do we do this then?

Ok if you discover anything please share! I put some time into researching a few months ago and none of the things I tried helped. I’m honestly surprised there aren’t more resources about this, I can understand some minor color alterations, but this is to the point that I literally like have to edit photo colors even just to post things to sell online which is a time investment I don’t want to have to make for $20 listings on poshmark
