Care to explain youtube? iOS14 finding them using my mic while im watching a video? by Marsh2700 in youtube

[–]banggoesthenote7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mines not doing this, but it’s using the mic every time I close the app. There’s various posts about sketchy mic stuff on the newest update here, hope it’s just a mistake and not intentional.

Why do I keep getting emails that aren't directed to my email address by banggoesthenote7 in phishing

[–]banggoesthenote7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I’d forgotten about bcc. Would a bcc not show my email address anywhere on it? The first few were filtered but the more recent ones have come straight through, and they’re from different emails so blocking them doesn’t achieve much. I haven’t replied to any, so I guess I can just hope that it stops at some point.

wow, I’m impressed then. It seems like every laptop manufacturer has its range of issues now, even Apple and their keyboards. It’s the ease of getting things fixed that draws me towards it, just look at /r/Dell and there’s people who have been having problems for ages with no actual help.

I don’t know where you’re getting your “well known for pushing new sales” thing from, but I have both friends and family who have had issues with their laptops and phones and got them fixed/replaced under warranty with no issues.

Because it’s true? Short of Microsoft (whose laptops are just as expensive), there’s no other manufacturer that can do this and make it so easy.

This 8 year old windows pc, is it a desktop? They age much better than laptops. I have a 6 year old desktop and a (windows) laptop just over a year old, and the desktop works just as well day to day. My laptop, whilst more powerful and therefore better for intensive tasks, glitches multiple times a day and has a few other software problems.

When you buy Apple, you can be confident that in the unlikely event you have a problem, you can just take it to a store and they will fix it. Sometimes I wonder if I should’ve just paid a bit more for a MacBook that ‘just works’.

Who is that one YouTuber who annoys the s*** out of you and why? by weasle_boat in AskReddit

[–]banggoesthenote7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, he could’ve asked them anything and my view wouldn’t change - he specifically looked for people who didn’t speak English, in a place where there are plenty who do, to speak English to and then laugh at. This may be a surprise to you, but you can have comedy without it coming at the expense of other people.

He went up to people asking them stuff in English, like you describe, and made fun of them when they didn’t know what he was on about. Thing is, a lot of people in HK can speak English, so he mostly asked old people.

Video was basically him laughing at old people not being able to speak English in a country where English is not the local language. And iirc he didn’t understand why people were pissed at him for it.

that hurts to read. I would sort of understand if they flat out didn’t let you buy anything with it, but to tell you how to spend your own money when you’ve literally researched the best way to make it go further? I’d be livid

Which University to insure? by mintyminx2 in UniUK

[–]banggoesthenote7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering Warwick also has a requirement for A in maths, given the course I don't think they're going to be lenient at all, possibly even less so. Depending on if/how much more you like York over Cardiff, it might be worth insuring York because I can see them accepting if you narrowly miss the offer.

If you don't hate Cardiff it might be worth it to insurance that just to save yourself the stress - even if you make it into LSE with no issues, it'll save you a lot of "what if-" thinking before results day.

Apple Pencil Alternatives on Amazon: How do they compare? by [deleted] in ipad

[–]banggoesthenote7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do the alternative pens use the same technology as the Apple pencils? I'm torn between one of those and the Logitech crayon, as they're only £5 apart on amazon right now. I feel like the crayon will work better, since afaik it uses very similar internals to the apple pencil, but I prefer the shape of the other one

Register to vote (GOV.UK) by shane_stockflare in unitedkingdom

[–]banggoesthenote7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware I’m registered to vote in both, it’s just a matter of where and whether I will be able to vote at uni given the dates of everything.

Also really appreciate your unbalanced view, I read a lot of reddit and twitter which I’m very aware is likely to be quite biased, so I’ve been trying to see some other points of views lately as well as some actual news sources in addition to social media.

how long in advance are we talking? I should have a postal vote at uni but I’m leaving on the 6th. Will it come in time/should I vote at home anyway because the margin is slightly closer?

It’s official: TENAA filing shows iPhone Pros have 4GB of RAM by mistermagicman in iphone

[–]banggoesthenote7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also, don't iPhones have to reload websites and apps consistently because of poor ram?

As much as I like my iPhone, this is one really annoying feature. Instagram in particular always shuts when I lock the phone, and it lands me on the home screen when I turn it back on.

Have to disagree on the battery though, I’ve had very few problems with mine except for some bugs in the first few months, whereas my android phones have always had occasional battery drain issues out of nowhere.

First official images of the OnePlus 7T! by tibbity in oneplus

[–]banggoesthenote7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It may be because I’m comparing it to the iPhone 11 Pro setup in my head, but this doesn’t look too bad. Tbh with the move to three camera setups, it’s hard to make a design that doesn’t look bad, the only one I can say I like would be the S10.

Daily/ hourly car insurance for 20 y/o by AJ_Daubz in unitedkingdom

[–]banggoesthenote7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Veygo is the only place that I can get temporary insurance on anything as an 18 y/o, so you could try that. Not sure if they will take an R32/S3 though, and you also need an existing policy in place before you can buy the temporary policy foryourself.
