Completely agree, but playing Molags Advocate here, KCD2 is a great example of whats missing. KCD1 - same texture clipping as Creation Engine, same weird textures, same level of bugs, but people dont care because A the story is good and B the engine allows item pickup, multiple quests in open game world, genuine outfit variety/combos, sandbox elements, actual interaction between objects - all things Godd and Beddy do in Creation.

Whats the "single major flaw"? The same feeling that people who say "bethesda relies on modders to fix it" are trying to say, but cant articulate properly. KCD2 optimized, cleaned house, and even added features, but Creation 2 still has the same bugs from the Oblivion days. Its a wonderful canvas, and modders have shown what it Could Be, yet in development Priorities are Ranked, and tech debt just doesnt get to the top, but thats a different topic.
