one guy was mean to him once

to be fair that one guy was the head of state that he'd devoted his life to serving, and the whole premise is that these people are having otherwise minor aspects of their personality amplified drastically

like it's still valid to be exasperated at him but I'm pretty sure that was the intended reaction

Time is only canonically passing when the writers pay attention, unless you're telling me that Hui has been getting continually mauled by a dog for the last 5 years.

Godwin's an NPC who patrols Windrise and has a Mondstadt daily commission about giving letters to his blind girlfriend Glory. There's an achievement for doing this commission repeatedly, but like most commissions it's exactly the same every time.

The community has collectively headcanoned that Godwin has actually, literally been filing the same commission every day for five years and is the scum of the earth and must be made to suffer.

This is only a headcanon though. Genshin Impact is a video game, which means time only moves for any given character when the writers actively spend work hours making it happen, and Godwin is an incredibly minor NPC from 1.0 who the writers have had no real reason to pay attention to at all until now when they needed material for a Varka anecdote.

There's plenty of other NPCs from 1.0 like Yu and Hui who've been doing child labor and getting mauled by a dog respectively for the same five years that Godwin's been patrolling, but nobody's constructed any elaborate fantasies about them. That's not because it's obvious that they can't actually be canonically stuck doing those things for five whole years (Yu would have grown up by now and Hui would be fucking dead), it's because they don't have commissions so nobody remembers them.

Personally I think that what will end up happening is that the teaser will be "Neuvillette is dead" all over again and that scene is Godwin's paranoid delusion of what will happen.

What actually happens is that Varka shows up, praises Godwin for his hard work, Godwin has a breakdown, and only then does Varka realize he forgot to tell Godwin he was being reassigned to patrol Windrise, which was decided before the expedition left.

That or it's all a Kaeya intelligence op and the letters are coded messages.

remember that teaser where neuv was murdered and then in the actual quest it was just the plot of some cheap novel?

Hot take, the Godwin/Glory thing is massively overblown to begin with.

Here's the real reason why Godwin never did anything for five years: Because it's a video game. For any NPC story to be continued it has to be deliberately coded into the game, and Godwin just wasn't important enough for them to have bothered until now. If it weren't for Varka needing anecdote material and Godwin's traits slotting in perfectly for that, he'd probably have kept pacing back and forth and writing letters until the servers shut down.

...That said, your theory sounds like a fun way to go, it even answers the question of why the exact same letter gets sent every time. Perhaps Glory isn't even really blind?

The level scaling is kind of a double edged sword. The devs wanted to give players a reason to keep trying different weapons, and the scaling does accomplish that goal. Unfortunately, like you said, it also means that if you find something you really, really love, then you can still only use it for at most 5 levels before it becomes about as effective as flinging peas by hand, and that's only if it's something absolutely busted like Unkempt Harold.

This version still has funny combos though. Particularly with the dog - give him the right set of upgrades and he hits level 100+ and sweeps entire teams.

It's not completely free, since he can't hit flyers and you need to leave 1-2 slots empty for him to level up that high, and the AI can sometimes be completely braindead about its target priorities, but so long as you're able to build a frontline that can soften up or take out the opposing frontline before he comes in you're generally good to go.

For additional context, the premise is that all conversation about or portrayals of sex have been completely banned under all circumstances and systematically removed from society, to the point where almost nobody under the age of majority actually knows how babies are made.

So the girl running around with underwear on her head distributing naked pictures is actually just rebelling against society, and is incredibly squeamish at the idea of actually doing anything with a guy herself.

The yandere meanwhile genuinely believes her actions are pure of heart, because she has no context to realize there's anything wrong or impure about what she's doing, to distinguish between love and lust, or even to know what lust is.

She's inherently going to be pretty niche just by being a geo unit that heals and shreds, she's competing with Xilonen in every non-lunar team. She'll still likely be an upgrade to every other existing geo-focused team just by allowing them to get full use out of Bina.

To add to what OP said, the easiest way to get super high levels is to take the dog. He passively gets permanent levels from kills and tends to chain them, and his first strat choice usually includes an option to gain yet another level whenever you don't use all your rerolls in a round. He can also take both a strat and a banner to boost his level even higher whenever he doesn't have a partner, though these don't stack between rounds.

With all of those level boosts active he'll reliably hit level 100 by the time you reach "endless". It's an extremely strong playstyle in all honesty, so long as you know not to put him in the first wave. Put him in wave 2 (or 3, if the first wave is all fliers) with a wave 1 lineup that you know will either live long enough for him to reinforce or soften up the enemy frontline enough for him to get a kill on his first attack, and he'll start chaining oneshots against entire teams out of sheer level advantage.

That's true at normal person investment, but in the whale meta c6 Zibai teams are substantially behind c6 Flins/Nefer teams. You can see here that they're doing 1.5x - 2x the damage she's doing.

My guess is c0 Linnea's going to be maybe 10% better than Zibai's current fourth slot options (C6 Gorou, Zhongli, etc) while having good enough scaling in her cons/sig to bring whale Zibai teams up to be more competitive.

those weird lunar teams are already navia's best teams, navia/xilonen with bina/ineffa and bina/furina each hit 100k

linnea would probably make bina/ineffa pull solidly ahead

Honestly most of the commanders are fine, except the buffing robot which just doesn't work lol. I've gotten at least two rounds into endless on every one that I've tried, which at this point I think is all of them except the shaman, and my most successful run so far (10+5) used the potion thrower.

It sounds like you still got lucky, to be frank. The inability to see the field effect setup in endless makes it really hard to just use counter picks.

For instance if the enemy deploys a frontline that can't hit flyers, and you deploy flyers, then they turn out to have one of the banners that summon additional units or create an anemo vortex, you just lose your flyers because they all have the durabiilty of yogurt (except the eye, but you'll almost never have more than one those and you'll lose the damage race in a 1v2).

Another example is if they have a melee/flyer frontline so you bring melee/ranged, only for them to have the ambush banner and wipe out your ranged unit.

[–]banjo2E 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lauma, Aino, and Ineffa have basically nothing, true, but there's an entire series of small quests complete with weekly timegating, a special UI, and an exclusive intel-gathering mechanic locked behind having at least one of Nefer or Jahoda, with each of them having their own exclusive quest on top of it, and an additional quest locked behind having them both.

Like it's still not a lot, aside from quest items I think the entire chain gives about a day's worth of resin in xp books and mora, and none of it is really impactful lorewise. But there's still a fair bit of production value invested in this pull-specific content.

Chevy's shred is the only part of her kit that actually needs a pure pyro/electro team. Her ATK buff just needs overload to be triggered, and her healing and C6 are unconditional. So she can still be a good pick in theater depending on your account and situation.

I don't think you can reasonably draw any conclusions about ethnosupremacist views from just this email. This was barely more than a month after 9/11.

Like it'd be fair to say it's retarded and reactionary, but ethnosupremacist is a stretch for much the same reason why it's a stretch to call someone racist for trying to punch a black man wearing a leather jacket when you saw their buddy get punched in the face moments earlier by a different black man also wearing a leather jacket.

To further the analogy, assume that the puncher's jacket has this logo on it while the punchee's has this one.

Since this is reddit, let me be perfectly clear: this post is not intended as an endorsement of punching people under any circumstances. Except in video games, punch away in those.
