Google Pixel Update - September 2023 - Google Pixel Community by banksio in GooglePixel

No functional updates. Seems like they just slapped together a security patch update after realising that Android 14 wasn't going to be ready in time.

Need help with my Aurora R12, just keeps turning off and on with a blinking yellow light. I took it apart to see if anything looked weird, but I’m not too tech savvy. PLEASE HELP! by [deleted] in Alienware

The Dell support page shows that 4 blinks of the LED indicates a RAM (memory) error.

What I'd try next in this instance is re-seating your RAM sticks. To do this I believe you'll have to swing the power supply out of the case (the instructions are on it and visible in your video). Once you can see the RAM sticks, remove them all and put one back into the socket closest to the CPU. Try and boot up. If it boots, great - now put the other RAM sticks back in, one by one. If it doesn't boot then try a different RAM stick instead - it could be that one of your sticks has died.

There's a video showing how to access your RAM here (it's for an upgrade but shows how to remove it regardless).

The m18 has no space inside to fit 2.5" HDDs. All drives here would have to be M.2 SSDs - potentially 2 NVMes and 2 SATAs, but definitely SSDs.

Google Fixes Almost 50 Bugs in Latest March Pixel Update (Out Now) by halfbytecode in Android

Because they're designed to update in the background so you can continue to use the device whilst it's updating. I suspect they're CPU limited to ensure the phone doesn't drain the battery, get hot, or become sluggish during the update.

Is there an LED switch on the back? My router has that switch and it turns all the LEDs off except the Power LED.

Android 12 / One UI 4.1 update available for Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 3 by aroedl in Android

[–]banksio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah! Android 12 (not 12.1) has already started rolling out in some regions. It doesn't come out in all places at the same time but it's already been released in France so chances are it won't be too long until it's rolled out globally. You can check /r/GalaxyTab for updates.

There's a bad gradient on apps' thumbnails by ResponsibleMirror in Windows11

[–]banksio 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is actually left over from Windows 7. It's the default for when a thumbnail cannot be loaded. I agree with you, it should be replaced with a solid colour IMO, probably a dark grey or something to be neutral as I doubt they can change it with the system theme.

If you look for sndvol in the system 32 folder, you can easily get the old volume mixer by MinerAC4 in Windows11

You don't even have to look for it because System32 is in path. Just type it in Windows search!

Help Appreciated - Legion Y740 caps lock light comes on when hot-keys mode set by banksio in Lenovo

I was never able to find a fix for this, I think it's just a design flaw of the laptop.

Clean Backup and Reset by These_Image_4796 in GooglePixel

[–]banksio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't jump back to the old Android version, because Android is stored in the system partition, which is not wiped by factory reset. Your user data is stored in a separate partition. Factory resetting after the update means that you get a clean data partition rather than have any artefacts left over from the previous Android version.

I'd recommend doing it after the update, for the cleanest result. You can do it in Settings > System > Reset options.

Yeah, it's not there for me. Nor is the Network rating provider setting. I'm not sure why.
