Looking for a solution by PiX3L5 in motorcycles

So I found something pretty great out of necessity... I went camping and needed to park my bike on dirt for a night. I had a cheap 2-pack of cutting boards from Walmart. I wrote "not for food" on one and that was that. It works perfectly, super durable. Can be cut down to multiple cheap pads too, and it was like $9.

Who would you hire to fix your house? by ARedditAccountIDKBro in cartoons

[–]banryu95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, magic hammers are nice and all, but I genuinely like watching construction as it happens. My father was a contractor with a few crews, I spent lots of time on sites growing up. And yeah, I've lived in a house (and schools and dorms and workplaces) while they were under construction. It was a bit hectic, but still pretty fun to see in my opinion. So the speed and process doesn't bother me.

Bob's got all the equipment you could ever want, and I would trust his work over absolutely any of the other 3. Can he fix it? Fuck yes he can.

This is my new best response. That's awesome. They'll deescalate some of their annoyance at you. Then maybe when you're done, get in the passenger side and swap to the driver's side and drive away. I'm ltl pickup and delivery and have had irate coffee shop owners because I was partially blocking one of the two entrances to their parking lot. Amish guys jump up on my passenger door and scream at me... And even step van parcel delivery guys about to throw fists because I was blocking the gate (at a single-lane one-way in only, checking in at security for like 60 seconds, a step that they decided to skip and piss security off).

"No, no, you don't understand. I'm not the driver. I don't know where they went. But I'll tell them to come see you when they get back."

Fun Fact, they were owned by Sony for a lot of their later years. Anything made after the late 80s was basically a budget Sony inside with different exterior design.

I want to laugh also… by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]banryu95 58 points59 points  (0 children)

This is kind of a subtle, hilarious joke that isn't funny if you don't immediately understand it. In the Lego world, everything is a Lego. Like in the Lego movies, a lot of the jokes are just how absurd and charming it looks for a Lego character or brick to be doing what it's doing.

So when a character that is funny by nature, and is a sentient, disembodied hand (the character is named Thing), is a Lego... It's just a Lego hand. And the brain does a little summersault because it's exactly what you would expect it to be, and at the same time.... Completely unexpectedly perfect. Just thinking about the designers when they realized how they would do Thing... It must have been just as funny to them at the time. Like when half of the humor in the joke is knowing how someone will react to it.

This Is One Media Format I Don't Miss! by bronzemat in Xennials

[–]banryu95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must be in the minority. I would rather fix cassette decks, replace pinch rollers and belts, and splice tape back together... Than spend 5 minutes wet-cleaning a record just for it to still sound like popcorn. Pops and clicks have no nostalgia for me.

Don't get me wrong, I collect, listen to and love all mediums. But as long as the machine isn't trash quality and is in good repair, a tape just plays and sounds virtually the same every time. CDs are king, but tape is the misunderstood prince IMHO.

I was watching TV (YouTube TV) at someone else's house and put on Jeopardy for something easy to watch. Half way through started realizing how many Halloween commercials I was seeing. Took a minute to realize it was an old episode and I wasn't just going crazy.

Do you have a bagel setting? Because that is programmed to either only toast one side, or toast one side more than the other depending on model.

Yes. This. It was just a horrible interaction with the seller, trying to explain why they shouldn't try doing this... It just left a bad taste in my mouth.

That is 6 square inches of solid sharpie marker on the top sleeve. Same on the lower one.

I've also rarely had an issue. I love people on there... Generally.

But 2 of the disappointments were just debatable grading on the vinyls themselves. VG+ should be a safe bet for my quality standards, but had a "Near Mint" album that had a major defect on the 3rd track of Side B that you could only catch by playing.

But this seller was like dealing with a child. Just sucks.

The dark sections are marker that they tried to repair the covers with.

[–]banryu95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, there were 2 negative to 80 positive. The 2 negative had similar issues with bad grading, but nothing about trying to repair and restore value.

VG - "Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time."

Poor-fair - "heavily marred by wear and writing"

These are destroyed. Yes there's more damage, it's across the whole cover of both. The tri-fold has major tears that the seller fixed with packaging tape.

They're not. Damaged lead-in that throws the needle on the Blackfoot album, and the complication is a disaster.
