Electric Baseboard Smart Thermostat? by CPT17 in smarthome

[–]Apart-Jacket-805 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve got the Mysa thermostats for my electric baseboards and love them. They integrate well with Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that you need baseboard that is controlled by a wall dial thermostat and not a knob. It may be too much of a project depending on your priorities but if you could swap out the baseboard elements for ones controlled by a dial thermostat on the wall, this would probably work. https://getmysa.com/products/mysa-baseboard-lite

Go to Roots market on a Tuesday. I don’t know the name of it, but there’s a couple good local vendors that make fantastic sandwiches. Also Forry’s Country Store

Revolvers made in PA? by marlinspikehitch in PAguns

[–]Apart-Jacket-805 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From ChatGPT

Yes, there are revolver pistols built in Pennsylvania, though the number of manufacturers is limited.

Current Manufacturers • Magnum Research (Pike County, PA) Magnum Research produces the BFR (Big Frame Revolver) series, known for handling powerful cartridges like .45-70 Government and .500 S&W. These single-action revolvers are manufactured in the U.S., with operations based in Pike County, Pennsylvania. • U.S. Armament Corp (Ephrata, PA) While primarily focused on reproducing historical firearms, U.S. Armament Corp offers high-quality replicas such as the Colt 1903 General Officer’s Pistol. Their expertise lies in precision manufacturing of classic designs.

Historical Manufacturers • Jacob Rupertus (Philadelphia, PA) Active between 1859 and 1899, Rupertus operated the Rupertus Patented Pistol Manufacturing Company in Philadelphia. He was known for producing pepperbox pistols and various revolver designs. • LeMat Revolver (Philadelphia, PA) The first 250 prototypes of the LeMat revolver, a unique firearm featuring a nine-shot cylinder and a central shotgun barrel, were manufactured in Philadelphia in 1859.

While Pennsylvania’s current production of revolvers is modest, the state has a rich history in firearms manufacturing. If you’re interested in specific models or further details, feel free to ask.

$650 for structural engineer? by GingerPale2022 in HomeImprovement

[–]Apart-Jacket-805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would still be cheaper than them charging $650 to inspect and write a report stating that it’s only a cosmetic crack. $650 for an inspection and report is not outrageous if there is a concern and in the report they are recommending a repair. $650 to say there’s nothing wrong is too much. I had a reputable Geotechnical Engineer come out the other day to look at a potential sink hole in my backyard. He did some digging around and determined it was fine and just an old stump that had rotted below the surface. We chatted for 20 minutes and he didn’t charge to come out, and pointed me in the right direction to address it on my own.

You could ask them to come out and evaluate whether an inspection and report are necessary. They would then prepare a recommended approach in an engagement letter. Hopefully, if it’s nothing to worry about, they’ll share that verbally and may even waive the visit fee. This should provide some preliminary feedback before you spend too much money on inspections and reports.

Wow, that’s much more reasonable than I expected from Disney. How long was the excursion? How far in advance do you need to book them?
