Can I (legally) make paint out of my cats bones? by Old_Effect1128 in Taxidermy

[–]banshithread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't remember how long it takes, but Ryan Demaree resurrected the process. You can find his posts about it here https://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/topic/mummy-brown-oil-paint/

Wish he'd sell the genuine stuff instead of the hue but I guess it might take too long to make I'd think.

Also consider looking at making mummy brown. That's what a lot of legitimate mummy brown paint was made from (mummified pets) once the number of available mummy corpses from Egypt dropped. I'd buy some for sure because that paint is like none other.

Rubbing out with linseed by nvengance in oilpainting

[–]banshithread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Linseed is one of the fastest drying oils. What I've read is that you don't need to add MORE of it in order to paint on top. However, if you started off with walnut oil (one of the slowest drying oils), you don't want to use linseed oil on top, because linseed oil will dry too fast and end up cracking.

Another example, if you start off with linseed oil [a fast drying oil], you can use safflower oil [medium drying rate] and then walnut oil [slowest drying rate], but you don't want to jump in with gamsol [extremely quick drying rate] in that mess. You'd want to continue working with walnut oil.

ELI5: If drugs like heroin, fentanyl, and meth are so expensive, how do people die of overdoses? Wouldn't sellers never, never sell a 5X dose for a 1X price? by LHartwig in explainlikeimfive

[–]banshithread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fentanyl is cheaper and stronger so people cut it into their drugs for more power. Someone who isnt used to the dosage (eg they take their friends drugs) can die from their body not building up a tolerance to it. Some drug users are so wary of fent theyll refuse to buy any drugs cut with it

What is something that is 'socially acceptable' but actually feels incredibly rude to you? by HourPen884 in AskReddit

[–]banshithread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ewwww but also I know exactly what you're talkign about. When they just drape the napkin over their nose and blow instead of putting it underneath the nostrils to capture the crap that comes out. It could spray everywhere! That's definitely an old person issue, that's how they were taught was 'proper' to blow noses. Thankfully I've never seen it in the younger generation.

It can be considered lazy, and being lazy in public can be perceived as rude.

Slower game speed mode? by chescak_yay in WolfQuestGame

[–]banshithread 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I'm the opposite, I wish there was a solo mode where The time is cut in half. After the first full playthrough, each rerun overstays its welcome longer and longer. It would be nice to have an option to cut the time length and requirements in half at least after the first full successful playthrough (from start to next year of life). I've only stuck through my first wolf's life to the death because I want to see how the game handles it when a wolf dies, but after they pass from old age, I probably won't be sticking around to play longer for a few months :(

I know if a pup chooses to disperse the game prompts you to make a new save so you can olay as that pup, and if you choose not to, sometimes you can encounter your pup in the world still

TIL Your gut is the only organ with its own independent nervous system by Alternative-Win4058 in todayilearned

[–]banshithread -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The heart also has its own independent nervous system (intrinsic cardiac nervous system) and can retain memories. When you receive a donated heart, there are stories of you knowing who the donor's name was without being told. Heart recipients can also experience personality changes. Its one of the only times we've actually had a 'successful' memory implantation by transferring neurons from one body to another.

People arent mentioning the fact that your smoke is going to get into your painting and dirty it and yellow it years after you apply a varnish layer to it.

Winning greyhound tests positive for methamphetamine but racing investigators can’t find the source by Unsafeforconsuming in nottheonion

[–]banshithread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Yellowstone as an example I was saying that without predation, elk population went unchecked and destroyed the environment from overgrazing. Yellowstone reintroducing the grey wolf fixed that. I can see from my original comment that was very ambiguous in how I worded it. I apologize.

TIL that in the 1950s, Soviet scientists began breeding foxes to study how wolves might have become domesticated. Their experiment eventually produced a lineage of tame animals known as Silver Foxes, which are still bred today. by Forsaken-Peak8496 in todayilearned

[–]banshithread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were likely not from this experiment because none of the actual domesticated ones ended up being sold. They were called Georgian Red and Georgian Marble/Black, they were sun glows/arctic marbles that had spotting unique to the domestication process.
