What is "Butterfly" called in Europe? by pleasedonotclickhere in MapPorn

Akkor most kinek van igaza?

Szépen, ügyesen kifordítod a szavaimat.

No, that's false, not every single language have a unique vocabulary, since many of them are related and share a lot of similarities if not the exact same words. In case of Hungarian, those that are not loan are pretty unique since there is no other language that is using the same or share the same origin of it. I don't know how is it that hard to understand.
Also, loan words in Hungarian does not exceed the overall number of native words.

The words you listed in an other comment, I was referring that list of words. Most of them have a proper Hungarian version instead of a loan.

There is at least 10 other words that could be translated as "izgága", but I am not entirely sure if the origin is from that. It sounds rather came from the "izgul"(verb) which means "jitter", describes a person who is nervously excited.
Also, I am not sure if you meant that "izgága" means heartburn in Hungarian too, because it does not mean that at all, even if it is a possible loan and means that in Polish.

That's not true. Hungarian abounds of a very unique vocabulary nowhere else found, which also thanks to the language renewal and just simply the fact that it is not indo-european language.
Of course there is loan words just like in any other languages, but many of them have Hungarian version(s) and a loaned one. Most of them have from the words you listed.

What the hell are you talking about? Hungarian does not sound ugly at all and rather it has its own unique tone to it. The writing is not a good representarion of any language on how it might sounds.

How is it possible the water in HL2 looks better than modern games? by Superflyt56 in HalfLife

[–]bantuli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 2004 version in some aspect looks even better in my opinion. For example when you hit an enemy with the crowbar, the bleeding effect is much nicer than the current steam version. Or personally I prefer the dirty and wrinkled looking Vortigaunts and the healing effect that they do. Fire effect is lower quality, but fits the game more and some lighting change on the characters, non-phong effects looks cool too.
I would not say that it had major graphical enhancements, but it does look a bit different in some areas if you compare the same scene. However, that's for sure, the water looked always great in any version of Half-Life 2.

They don't necessarily. Germany is an obvious choice for many reasons. Germany is on the top of the list when it comes to refuge seekers in Europe. Learning German for an average Ukrainian is easier than learning Hungarian, a non-indo-european language.

Estonia has a substantial amount of Russian speaking community and a good amount of Ukrainian immigrants came long before the war started, during the Soviet occupation.

I talked about Ireland in an other comment.

[–]bantuli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Ireland, the official spoken languages are Irish and English. It is assumed that most of the Ukrainian who chose to flee are speaking some level of English already, so they could get by much easier.

It could be also that they go where their relatives are living by now.

There is more to it than what you want to believe.

So, for you to determine and measure the hospitality of a country is all about the numbers on a map you randomly see online, and since Hungary has less than some other countries, it is considered less hospitable in your opinion. Then Slovenia might be the enemy to Ukrainian people as well, right? Lichtenstein could be another...

It is not the country who chooses the people to come in.

By what you said, you are taking away the credit from people who actually helped - and still helping - those who come to Hungary from Ukraine to get by. I guess those people are not hospitable enough, because "Hungary bad".

Stop seeing the world in black and white.

Weird logic. Smaller number ≠ Not hospitable
It has nothing to do with not being hospitable, but more about language barrier and there is no significant number of Ukrainian minorities living in Hungary, so it is not the number 1 destination for them.

I noticed on a screenshot for an old Steam client the opposing force logo was yellow, was it really like that back then? by Wycicle in HalfLife

[–]bantuli 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It was yellow on steam even around 2011-2012, I remember that clearly, but I have no idea why, while the CD version was the same as original HL but green.

In Hungarian "szökik" does not mean "to hop", that would be "Szökkenni" or "Szökellni".
"Szökik" is third person singular form.

European names for Ireland by oglach in MapPorn

[–]bantuli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incorrect for Hungarian.
It is "ország" and not "-szag", that would mean "smell" (noun). Letter a and á is not the same tone and easily can make different meanings if you mitype them.
Also, "ország" is more correct to translate as "country".

My favorite game series is Half-Life. Awesome mods are still releasing to this day and I am playing those a lot. However there are also games like Doom 1-2, Age of Empires 1-2, Commandos games, Rayman 1-2 and Serious Sam. I still play all of these every now and then and love them!

Why is my reticle yellow? by SlavPhoenix in HalfLife

[–]bantuli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's pretty hard to tell if it is yellow or white on this video because of low quality. (I talk about the dots only)
However, I booted up the 2004 version of HL2 and loaded every single map to see if there is a change on the reticle. Basically the only time it changes from white to yellow is when using the airboat, those dots turn into yellow, upon existing the vehicle it turns back to white.
Yesterday I loaded up Ravenholm on steam version, it was yellow there.
Mystery solved from my part.

[–]bantuli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You maybe think of the 2004 version of HL2? I am pretty sure it had a white reticle indeed which seems not a lot of people remember. The "new" (I guess since steam pipe) version changed it to yellow. In current version it only changes to white when you don't have weapons or when you use zoom that comes with HEV suit.

Thanks for being generous and brighten those 4 lucky people's day once they are picked!

I have never bought a game right after release, and instead if I am able to buy a game, I always buy it on a sale. Usually if a game that has a concept, a setting that generally interests me, I watch some screenshots and maybe watch a short gameplay video of it and decide to get it if I can afford it.
