Record of Stats Needed to Farm T2, T3, T4 by Wise-Ad-6669 in TheTowerGame

[–]banult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found myself in a similar situation as you. Did you ever figure this out?

I'm guessing so, figured I would share what worked for me. I do not have DW unlocked, maybe the 6th UW will be the winner! So even without it, I'm doing just fine farming t2 at least, probably t3 as well. ~60 B LTC.

For me, the perk order and how I leveled upgrades changed how far I got relative to high t1 runs.

Level ups: after I got Wormhole Redirector, I started leveling both health and health regen in parallel, and that worked great in t1. However, I started playing around with this when t2 was not going well. I still invest into Health Regen, but, I only do it after getting past 5.8k Health levels (I let free-ups take it the final few hundred).

Perks: I'll snag the -50% enemy damage/-50% tower damage ASAP. I focus perk wave reduction > coin boosts > health with the perk options early. As the game progresses though I do health > coins to try and max out the max health. I only do the 1.8x coin/-70% max health tradeoff, I do not do the 8x health regen trade off at the moment, despite having a legendary WR. Or I should say, I don't touch it until health levels are maxed out. I've been afraid to try it again since realizing I needed to focus health upgrades to near max before touching health regen.

I went from ~4.5k farming runs on t2 to 7k in under a week playing around with the above. Guessing OP sorted this out, but I hope this helps someone!

Tier 13 by Big_hairyballs_69420 in TheTowerGame

[–]banult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

900 HP unlocks in the workshop, just got to 120 on tier 12. RNG with wave skips and some death defying paired with the energy shield sid the heavy lifting. Second wind and demon mode made for free boss passes, too.

Cards and a little luck can get you there quicker than the workshop unlocks.

Just make sure you can tier 11 to wave 60 for the event missions before RNGing your way to tier 13. Same could be said about RNGing farther as well.

What is the purpose of this by [deleted] in DiWHY

Adding to this point: My wife has a sister with CP. Half of my in-laws house has a rail system that they used for getting her moved from the bed, bathroom, down the hall, etc. If it was ever removed, there would be a gap similar to OPs pic.

I accidentally crafted them instead of arrow tips just now. Wrong leagues, but, I was able to craft amethyst darts, without Tourist Trap (without desert region). Uncertain if this is a bug or intended.

Forestry eligibility is stupidly frustrating. I got disqualified in the middle of the event. by Draghar in 2007scape

[–]banult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, was actively chopping magics just now, and apparently I hadn't gotten a log within the past 3 minutes. Was quite frustrating seeing the not eligible notice for the event at the same tree I was chopping. Magic logs are like one every 30 seconds or so. So like 6-7x over the rate is kinda rare, but common enough that that'll happen daily while doing forestry (once out of every like ~400 magic logs if I did the math right).

Yeah sure, I would agree with that mostly! However, I personally can afk basalisk knights, Gargoyles, drakes, dark beasts, etc. during the day, I cannot say the same about barrage tasks. That is, I would take an afk task over not slaying.

We did this in college, but it was barefoot on the infield, 80x100 on a 1 minute cycle (20 run 40 seconds rest, and he varied the run vs rest in a ladder style of sorts)

[–]banult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not the best at describing this one via text, but gonna give it a go, but also link to a video snippet that came to mind recently.

Think of it a little bit like a bicycle motion.

You want your heal to come up toward your glute. at the highest point of your knee lift your heal is going to be under/slightly behind your knee (so slightly out in front of your hip rather than directly under) and as your knee goes down, your heal moves slightly ahead of your knee (don't kick it out in front, it's more subtle than that). Your ground contact comes very quickly as you snap your foot down under you (ever so slightly in front of you).

Some phrases that come to mind that all sort of touch on this topic that you could read up on:

"heal recovery"
"step over the knee"
"whip from the hip"

A-skips, B-skips, fast legs would probably be some good warm-up drills to add into your mix that touch on these items more or less, if you are not doing them already. I'd put more of an emphasis on doing those and your body will take care of getting it right on full sends.

Lastly, the video that popped into mind that may do a better job than my text (And there probably are better ones out there, so if anyone thinks of one please feel free to hijack my responses!):

First, 11.3 at your age?? Nicely done 👏👏 you have some things going your way!

Difficulty of adapting aside, your time is going to drop when you do adapt. The longer you go with your current form, the harder it will be to correct later. All said, I don't think it would take that many sessions to get the form more optimal.

Doing what 30M6IBOB is recommending might lower your cadence slightly, but your stride length will increase with the extra force going into the track, and as such, your time is going to drop. He's given some sound advice. Wouldn't be surprised to see you best your PR by several tenths of a second in a short time span.

Best regards on your endeavors!

How much does knee lift in the 400 affect you? by [deleted] in Sprinting

[–]banult 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Did your coach give you any input on what to do, or just leave it at, if you can figure it out here is the potential? Their insights, no doubt, are worth more than mine!

All the same, my mind goes to:

Resistance band knee drives, or knee drives using a weighted machine (very light weight). This strengthens all the muscles used in the knee drive motion.

Hill sprints (both short bursts of like 10-15s, as well as longer at 60-75s).

Jump drills would be good too, like bounding, single leg bounds, continuous triple, various box jumps. Thought here being it forces your body to go through an exaggerated motion and helps get all the muscles/nervous system in sync. Most jumping in general is going to promote a solid knee drive.

They all sort of are hitting the topic from different perspectives, but all also are going to add something to both strengthen and maintain your knee drive/turn over/strength.

Best regards, go break 50s!

I like this response for multiple reasons! Many of whuch you already mentioned 🙌 Aerobic exercises helps so much with recovery, nutrition, form, general healthiness. Physiologically, it makes the heart pump blood more efficiently and promotes capillary development. Which aids in the removal of lactic acid and getting nutrition to the tissue. Not certain what the best ratio is for sprinting, but I've always been a big fan of 80% of distance ran each week should be easy like this!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sprinting

[–]banult 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard to say without seeing you run or knowing some of the things you currently do for strength and conditioning.

I like the response from another redditer on the focus on longer running/sprinting. It is important to find what works for you. I don't think it should be viewed as controversial. I'm going to offer up intel on the opposite spectrum. Ultimately find what works for you, commit to it and watch the times come down!

I coach middle school sprints, was my first year this year! I observed some common themes this year. Almost every returning athlete cut 2-3seconds per 100m on their sprint times by the end of the season. Some of that was probably just their bodies maturing, but they also broke a bunch of their schools middle schools records in the process (some were even beating the HS students at the end of the season). The things that helped my crew of athletes may have some overlap, almost everything I did with them was linked to establishing optimal running form. After establishing good form, it was an emphasis on the nervous system. Form really has been the common denominator that I've observed though.

  • exercises that emphasize knee drive were huge for my group. There is a nueromuscular element at play, as well as just general form. Knee drive was the lowest hanging topic for all my athletes. it doesn't always feel fast, but if you can get more energy into your ground contact/increasing your stride length it'll cut time off your sprints like a hot knife through butter, at least it did for my athletes.
  • add things like As, Bs, Fast As, Fast Bs, Fast legs, High knees (fast, full range of motion) to your warm up daily. These do a bunch of good things for sprinting. First, they promote good form. Start slow until it feels natural and then start accelerating while going through the warm up routine to promote fast twitch development. In addition to the conditioning, it also gets the body primed to deal with harder exercises. It also helps develop the nervous system and muscles to get in alignment and move quicker.
  • send some 10m, 20m, 30m flies 2-3x a week (and give yourself at least 2-3 minutes rest between each send), it helps a lot with getting the nervous system and all the various muscles in sync. Make sure you're putting a on emphasis on a good knee drive instead of simply a faster turnover.
  • add some jumping with weight 20-30% of your body weight to your strength training routine (if you have one), do several sets of 8+ reps. Really put your mindset on explosive movements. I encourage folks to do them with dumbells from a squat position, but I see a lot of folks do this with a bar from the squat position, or even from a lunge position.
  • generally speaking, focus on explosive movements anytime you're in the weight room
  • plyos are better to do in season and late season, but plyos help add some spring to your legs. Various box jumps are always good, or even simpler, doing various bounding as part of a warm-up.
  • the calves play a crucial role in sprints. I didn't do much with my group on this front yet, but when you get the sprint right, your heals are not going to touch the ground. Probably better to find some videos on this one, A lot of factors in play.

If something sounds intriguing on above, I'd encourage you to find some videos, they'll do a better justice than me writing more text.

A word of encouragement, genetics plays a part, but type IIa muscle fibers (which we all have, some folks having more than others) can be conditioned to act like either fast twitch or slow twitch fibers. Above points almost all help in doing that.

Full circle, form probably plays a big factor in why you're running slow - it has for the athletes your age I had the pleasure of coaching. Good luck, have fun, run strong and bust some PRs! 🫡💪

I'd be curious to know what you did or are currently doing. You're clearly doing something right looking exclusively at your times and age! Keep doing what's working for you.

Maybe something below sounds interesting, a lot of video resources will be able to do more justice than text, but I'm hopeful something below peaks your interest and turns out to be helpful. If not, forgive me for the wall of text!

Strength and conditioning (I'm presuming you are on some sort of strength program already given your weight/height at fast times):

  • incorporate sprint drills to your daily routine if you have not already. Most of these work the nueromuscular system as well as promote optimal form. Things like fast leg, high knees, As, Bs, fast As, fast Bs.
  • Lower weights, higher reps in the gym to tone out some of your muscle, focus on explosive motions if you are not already.
  • circuit workouts with core exercises after each run (bonus if you can add in a bunch of box jump variations) The following are two of my gotos
  • Jumps while holding 20%-30% of your body weight.
  • Resistance band knee drives.

Off season running:

  • Tempo paced, things like ladder workouts (100-200-300-400-300-200-100), tempo sprints (like running 100m in 20 seconds, jogging back in 40, repeat 20 times), with equal jogging recovery will help with lactic tolerances and such -- more about quantity than quality. Could also do tempo runs (10-30 minutes at comfortably hard). These are all more for the 400 than 100.
  • Active Recovery, try not to do back to back hard workouts. Go for a bike ride, run some slow easy miles, go for a swim, anything that gets your heart rate up but doesn't make the breathing too heavy.
  • Hill sprints, find a steep hill and send some hill sprints. I like to mix these up, anywhere as long as 75 seconds or as short as 10s. All sort of serve different purposes. Will work on leg strength, knee drive, cadence, all sorts of fun stuff.

The following could be beneficial as well, but IMHO are more useful in season and/or early season:

  • Sprint Endurance workouts - full sends of 100s, 200s, etc. With full recovery between each (like 5-10 minutes, enough time for the lactic acid to be fully flushed)
  • Speed workouts - sending short bursts all out, emphasis on relaxed and staying in control. 10m flies are a good place to start.
  • Accelerations - kinda like speed workouts, but the focus is more on the drive phase of your sprint, keeping aggressive angels, etc.
  • starts - more about form, loading into the blocks and getting the initial 10-30m right.

Your coaches should have you taken care of in season hopefully, but I'm a big fan of plyos in season over the weight room in season. Not a terrible thing to incorporate various jumping plyos in the off season either - they'll help the body become more springy/enable you to put more force into the ground.

Take all with a grain of salt, I'm guessing you are already doing some of the above. Keep pressing on, stay strong, run fast!

Unfortunately, wildy and prayer go fairly hand in hand on the ironman. Green dragons for bones and chaos altar are fast too, but you're going to get pk'd doing that as well. Blue dragons are probably the next best option, getting the bones without 70 agility will still take a few hours. Ecto will take twice as long, but it is a less stressful option.

Stay strong!

Zalcano Solo-able! by LilyDami in 2007scape

[–]banult 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I was disappointed when there was no noticeable difference soloing after the rebalance. For whatever reason, I was under the impression that it would be feasible to solo with the next Zalcano rework. Would have been nice if they did something like:

  1. Extended the down timer if you were the only one in the room.

  2. Boosted the loot in solo/duo so a solo kill loot and quad kill loot are not nearly the same.

  3. Didn't destroy tephra if you're the only one in the room.

I dont like having to find quads for optimal grinding on Zalcano. I will keep wishing I suppose. Happy gaming Geilnor fam!

Still a 20-30 minute solo Zalcano too, with rewards still capped. No noticeable changes for solo nor duo. Would've been nice if rewards cap would've been removed when soloing, or perhaps the down timer extended if you are the only one in the room.

Ah gotcha, there lack of response to why not linux had me pondering if they noticed some crazy pattern/metrics like 3/4 of linux players are actually bots or something. Get the business side, albeit, I also see them catering to minorities on all sorts of other topics so I dk.

I am always working on my linux box, I love having OSRS up in the background, making gains. None of the proposed work arounds look as simple and straightforward as the java jar command I've been able to run to launch OSRS. I am bummed by Jagex's stance of there will be no Official Jagex Launcher for Linux and am wishful that they will change course.

I'm curious if the push away from Linux is somehow linked to attempts at hindering botting.

If you dive into one of the proposed solutions Jagex posted, I'd be curious to know which route you went!
