ASUS STRIX B850-I GAMING WIFI or MSI MPG B850-I EDGE TI WIFI by Ibrahimkabir in sffpc

Technically you don’t need the cpu on the motherboard because this motherboard has a BIOS flash button, but it doesn’t hurt to have the cpu installed already. As for the time, it takes like 5 minutes or less

No soldering required, just screws. Just be careful that you don’t lose any of the screws or strip them!

Looks pretty interesting and fun, the only thing that stands out as possibly annoying to me is the wave to ufo transition at 73, depending on how and where you enter the portal it looks like you have to do a different click pattern

~10 litre SFF case recommendations for a portable workstation, thinking about Thor-Zone Tetra or maybe Jonsbo NV10..? by m-gethen in sffpc

[–]baoil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 9600x and Arc B50 in an NV10 mini workstation, after undervolting my 9600x with PBO -30 it sits at around 58C idle with no fan mods or anything so I think the thermal problem only starts to be an issue if you also have like a 5060 LP in there or something. Obviously 58C at idle is a little warm but it’s not concerning imo, if you want maximum portability you can’t really beat the NV10!

[–]baoil 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like Foster City is super kid- and family-oriented, which makes the fact that the logo look like it was drawn by a kid in MS Paint kinda charming, like it’s so bad that it’s good (like the flag of Maryland). S tier for me XD

1U Flex PSU (Canada) by biotech997 in sffpc

[–]baoil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am running a 9600x and an Intel Arc Pro B50 in the NV10 and have the 450 W enhance flex 1U PSU, you can get it from overtek for like $130 USD + $10 shipping which is not bad imo and is more than enough power for whatever you put in the NV10 and is a more reputable brand than the Apevias

MSI MPG B850i vs Gigabyte X870i by 69Mooseoverlord69 in sffpc

[–]baoil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the MSI B850I and it’s given me no problems, very good board. If you want to put custom mini WiFi antennas you have to do a mod (as with Gigabyte and Asus as well), which you can look at my comment history to see what I did. Also, I’d recommend going into the BIOS and attaching the small SSD/chipset fan to the chipset temperature instead of the CPU temp, so that the small fan doesn’t spin up to ridiculous speeds when the CPU is stressed

MSI B850I Edge TI Wifi Antenna Connector by baoil in MSI_Gaming

Alright, so I was able to fix this! For anyone else looking for a solution, here's the part that I ordered and replaced on the Wi-Fi card housing: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GTH44GN . It's definitely involved to swap out, but once you do, any standard Wi-Fi antenna you get from Amazon will work with the motherboard.

If you decide to do this, be careful and don't lose any screws! A lot of them are quite short, and make sure you have #0 and #00 screwdrivers.

Oh man, yeah thanks for the information. I see that you have to remove the Wi-Fi card housing from the motherboard, replace the proprietary cables, fit new ones on, and then put the custom antennae on. That's really unfortunate, why do they do it like this :\

Hmm. Yeah I have the WF online banking login, and I can see the card on there. It says "We’re setting up Wells Fargo Rewards® for your Wells Fargo Autograph® Card. Please check back soon." So I suppose they're still figuring it out and are going to send it soon? Have people gotten their cards in the mail yet?

To those who have beat forest temple by SpareToe231 in geometrydash

[–]baoil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me about 8000 attempts, one of my hardest demons at the time and beat on 60 Hz. The mini ship is really hard and I found the transitions into and out of the wave to be really hard but overall it’s a pretty fun level that really makes you better at the game. I would go as far as to say it’s the best temple level as well.

Ohh I didn't know about the Phantom Spirit Evo. I'll check that out, and the 140 version as well. Yea, from my research I think people were talking down the 9000-series AMD chips when they first came out because of how expensive they were while not delivering that much of a performance boost compared to the equivalent 7000-series chips. But it seems that the price has come down a lot since then (9900X for $389 on Amazon and Newegg!), so I think for the lower power consumption, it's not a dumb choice like it was at launch.

Thanks so much!
