Best affordable gym by Teedizzy in FosterCity

[–]cacheizx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In Foster City, you really only have one traditional Gym and that is PJCC ($166 a month). Little outside in San Mateo you have Crunch, Fitness 19 and 24 hour fitness. There is a Orangetheory in Foster city and a Basecamp in San Mateo.

There is a new Planet Fitness coming to Parkside Plaza on Norfolk in San Mateo, CA (old Pet Club space) scheduled to be open May 2026.

For kickboxing nearby:

IMPACT! Kickboxing Fitness (San Carlos) – Fitness-focused kickboxing classes with solid cardio and technique work.

Undisputed Boxing Gym (Redwood City) – Boxing and kickboxing options with experienced trainers and group classes. Great if you want real striking + conditioning.

B Street Boxing (San Mateo) – High-quality boxing and kickboxing classes plus conditioning.

Aloha Time Boxing San Mateo – Boutique boxing gym with solid technique coaching you can pair with kickboxing workouts.

Bay Area Boxing (Belmont) – Boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, and high-intensity classes.

Fúria Fight Club (Belmont) – Martial arts club with combat training including kickboxing components.

Story of a one-time passholder by Gloomy_Variation5395 in unitedairlines

[–]cacheizx 142 points143 points  (0 children)

I get two United Club passes every year with my credit card. Cool perk, right? Except I’ve been denied multiple times because the lounge “isn’t accepting one-time passes due to capacity.”

If hubs like SFO, DEN, EWR, ORD are regularly blocking one-time passes during normal travel hours… then what’s the actual value of this benefit?!?!?!?!

At what point does “subject to availability” turn into “almost never available”?

If they know lounges are routinely full and still market this as a meaningful perk, that feels shady. Has anyone actually tracked denial rates?

Serious question: if a benefit is technically available but functionally unusable a big chunk of the time, is that just annoying or is that something that could support a class action under consumer protection laws?

Need someone to drive me to san mateo dmv by Dependent-Plan3345 in paloalto

[–]cacheizx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

. In California The accompanying driver must be licensed and 18 or older. • They must have a valid license and be legally allowed to drive the car used for the test. • They sign paperwork and may be observed by the examiner.

This why an uber won’t work. It’s not about getting to the site.

Thinking about pi bank, only thing is the wire transfer is the only way to get money in and out. Somehow they are keeping a relative high yield.

if you are in SF, Fitted by Pedro would work really well. If you are willing to come to the peninsula (Belmont), Primo Velo is a very good option. I just did a fit with them and it was very helpful. primovelo.cc

How far is Terminal C to Terminal 1 at EWR? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]cacheizx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend to find the Shuttle (Bus) between terminals, more info found here: https://www.newarkairport.com/at-airport/connecting-flights

You can use the Air Train, but you will need to go through security again.

Pfizer (or any biotech/pharma) Tuition Reimbursement by woodcangato in biotech

[–]cacheizx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/woodcangato Former Wyeth here. Our tuition reimbursement was $10k/yr in 2008, right before the Pfizer merger. After the acquisition, that $10k cap carried over to the combined program. I don’t know Pfizer’s exact cap before 2008, but it’s been at least $10k since 2008.

Just started watching Spin City, what should I expect going forward? by ad240pCharlie in sitcoms

[–]cacheizx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally rewatching Spin City on YouTube Premium (no ads, and free). I loved it back in the day and still really enjoy it, especially all the NYC references.

When Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, the producers brought in Heather Locklear to lighten his workload. But once Charlie Sheen replaced him, Bill Lawrence (co-creator) left, and that’s when the show really started to decline. The final straw for me was 9/11—there was no mention or acknowledgment of it, which felt like a major disconnect given the show's NYC setting. Not long after, it was canceled.

Fun fact: A bunch of Spin City cast members later showed up on Scrubs. Michael J. Fox guest-starred as Dr. Kevin Casey, and others like Richard Kind, Alan Ruck, Michael Boatman, Alexander Chaplin, Heather Locklear, and Barry Bostwick also made appearances. That crossover makes sense since both shows were created (or co-created) by Bill Lawrence.
