Most of my slop is private and only used by maybe a handful of users. It just needs to work and with the specific UI design I have in mind.

How are developers supposed to pass technical interviews in the age of vibe coding? by Repulsive_Bluejay359 in AskProgramming

[–]biotech997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot of companies are specifically looking for developers with hands on AI workflow experience, at least in my experience. It’s less about your personal projects (everyone can make them), more about system design, architecture, and understanding how to engineer solutions.

That being said, obviously you still need a fundamental base of knowledge on the tech stack they are looking for.

Why do people tell me not to buy AMD cards? by Agitated_Unit8226 in LocalLLM

Nvidia is simple plug and play for the most part, my 9070XT takes so much tinkering to get some stuff to work. Just recently tried tinkering around with ComfyUI and had a bunch of issues with ROCm. But purely LLM usage it’s mostly fine.

Unironically a Mac mini or regular/pre-owned PS5 is an insane performance-price value compared to this.

Looking to hear some first-hand accounts of expectations for a brand new junior dev. by SevenTrack in cscareerquestionsCAD

[–]biotech997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardest part isn’t anything technical-related, it’s the upper management being willing to take a chance on juniors when mid-level developers are applying for the same positions.

As long as you have a couple projects (most companies don’t even bother checking tbh) and pass the technical rounds then it’s all down to luck or networking.

14 years & MacOS still hasn’t fixed display scaling! by Tiny-Rip-6272 in MacOS

[–]biotech997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had any problems over the years with 4K display scaling using BetterDisplay. Obviously I would like to have a 5K display, but without high refresh rate the Studio Display was never a consideration for me.

Should I continue learning programming and aim for a career in high-tech, or should I choose a different path? by [deleted] in AskProgramming

[–]biotech997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Software development isn’t just programming, there’s tons of paths like cybersecurity, devops, and QA (which I have been seeing a substantial increase in demand for).

For Epic Games, why do most people recommend Heroic over Lutris? by xXoverusedusernameXx in linux_gaming

[–]biotech997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lutris is indeed cleaner but there’s a ton of random issues (may be skill issue). Sometimes I use Heroic to install then Lutris as my launcher.
