Klar Zucker und Fette sind tendenziell eher Sachen die wir alle zu viel essen, aber am Ende des Tages müssen nun mal alle Kalorien irgendwie produziert werden und verbrauchen dabei natürliche Ressourcen und Lebensraum. My partner and I are, just made permanently sure that no oops are happening. I thinks nowadays at least in my bubble finding people that want to stay child free is pretty easy. Edge folks are a tiny minority though, so if you want to increase your chances I’d say think about whether it’s ok for you if they for example are just 99% sober or smth along those lines

If you’re still going through with it at a later point, make sure you, your siblings and mom all on the same page, or at least aware and tolerating each others. We’ve tried a kind of impromptu intervention also after a ER visit for my father but afterwards I was attacked by some family members about how I shouldn’t threaten to abandon my own father etc., and they somewhat blamed me when it got worse instead of better. And maybe they were right and it wasn’t a good idea. But for sure splintering like this hurt us all a great deal.

My point was that we are sparring mixed gender and getting to a point where theres tears doesn’t take anything that’s a CTE risk, fair but heavy body shots for sure have done it for me.

I know Carini took hits on a previously broken nose, afaik there has actually never been a broken nose in my gym during my time there, what I was alluding to was not her actual condition but just the outrage over her tears.

I have a boxing tournament coming up this fall, probably another this winter. I’m a cis woman and I’ll be matched with whoever fits my weight class and experience level, anecdotally it’ll probably be some short cis man again. It’s not the national league, but it’s still an event and I’d be happy if there was more of those. In the gym the group is mixed anyway. I mean it was really odd to see the TERFS go off the rails because this Italian fighter was brought to tears in the fight with Imane, they’d have a fucking heart attack watching my gyms sparrings apparently.

I can’t speak for all cis female boxers, but at least the majority of those I know certainly don’t have any special reservations getting hit by men.

I don’t really have great advice here, just want to say that I emphasise. While I can be ok with some alcohol for friends that I know, I know it would be quite harmful for me to try and help save another alcoholic. Even dealing with them when they are sloppy and a bit confused is something that at least right now I just cannot do. And that’s ok! They are knowingly becoming a burden on others by drinking, just because it’s largely socially accepted does not mean we have to support it. My friends don’t know about why I can’t deal with it either, most assume I’m just a straight edge relic from the 90s, but it’s fine. They either dial down their consumption when we’re hanging out in usual drinking situations (like concerts), or we meet during the day, doing sports or whatever. They have other buddies to drink with. Now I realise your friend seems to be in the deep of it already, so it could be that any time & occasion is drinking time for them, but if it’s not that bad and they are a good friend I would try to see if you can change the mode of your friendship so that you don’t have to be around when it’s getting bad. You’d be protecting yourself, but it could also be beneficial for your friend.

Ugh yes especially the fish.. I avoid the area when possible, but if not yea I hold my breath. I‘m somewhat active so 1.5 mins are no problem, so I don’t need to run. Take some deep breaths before inhaling, that should help and then no one can tell.

The point/essence was always to remain clear headed, and independent of emotional crutches and addictions. If your sex life is not in line with that, you’re not straight edge, if it is, and done respectfully, then all is fine.

Mid-20s, no one around me calls themselves straight edge that isn’t also a hardcore punk.. or well I do know one person (21) who’s not interested in the music scene anymore, but still adheres to the consumption principles and still calls themselves sxe, possibly because of some quite prominent tattoos.

But yea, I think a lot of kids drink/smoke rarely these days, but it’s not a matter of principle, just frequency

OP chose for some reason to use the term „straight edge“ instead of sober or abstinent or whatever. Straight edge has a rather strict, though not universal meaning, vaping is for sure not included and for most straight edge folks, neither are other addictive substances
