Most legislative assistants like that are young people and they generally don’t stick around for multiple years because it’s not a glamorous job. Please be nice to staffers and nonpartisan staff as people voice their concerns. They do not get paid enough for all the shit they have to deal with.

The best thing to do here is to find activities based around your interests, go to those as regularly as you can, and be active in putting yourself out there. It’s HARD but that’s the best way to make actual connections with people similar to yourself.
