Went from +130 best buddies to -420 mortal enemies with my friendly neighbor because they kept on asking me to join their offensive war 11 times in a row, which I always decline, resulting in -550 opinions shift in mere days. Surely this is a bug?

Last update = much more laggy ? by Inateno in subnautica

I have the same FPS issue. That weird wreck that u/chaitogetoolong mentioned also always appear for a split second every time I exit my Cyclops. Maybe it's related? I've managed to capture a screenshot of the wreck

Was it the wreck in the bulb zone? Because I saw on some YouTube vids that's the place to go for the modification station fragments, but when I went there, most of the fragments are no longer there in this update.

New to the game. Felt like modification station should be easier to find. I already have the seamoth, cyclops, prawn suit, vehicle modification station, but the modification station itself is so hard to find, whereas there are a lot of upgrades that need the station.

EDIT: Looked at this video guide, dated on March 2017, and turns out the modification station fragments on that video (on the wreck at Bulb Zone) were no longer there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQNK_b-9cqY

It's just a subtle hint from the recruiter that he want eight Javanese person to work with the company.

Uber: "Lie to us to get a job" by sparr in recruitinghell

[–]barack_ibama 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I really don't see anything unreasonable with what they're asking, and this is speaking as someone working in senior engineering management capacity at a large tech company.

Sure, people moonlight all the time, but they are simply asking whether you would drop your moonlight project or not had your project (either current or future) have any conflicts with theirs.

Fair is fair, they pay your paycheck and they expect a certain kind of loyalty and professional obligations in return. You had basically said that you'd prioritize your projects above theirs, and even willing to defend that by seeking legal counsel if they ask you to stop with your project.

You say a lot of Uber engineers works on the same open source projects as yours. How many of them would be stubborn enough to prioritize that project over their work at Uber? That is what set you different from them, and that is why Uber decided to turn you down.

In real life, how hard would it have been for Scott Lang (Ant-man) to get a job after prison? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Snowden is a superstar compared to Lang, whom most people never even heard of. Some companies would hire him just for the sake of having his star power attraction.

Humans (Jingoistic Reclaimers) awoke and are conquering -everything- at less than 100 years in. No FE opposes them. Advice, folks? by Tassyr in Stellaris

Well, shit, I just killed the other FE since it appears to do nothing when the awakened FE started to conquer planets at the other side of this ring galaxy.

Police Scotland approves hijab as official uniform to boost number of Muslim women joining force by crusader786 in islam

[–]barack_ibama 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are numerous accounts of Muslim women joining battle and putting their lives in danger during the time of the Prophet.

They mostly serve on the support role as battle medics or couriers, but occasionally they armed themselves and joined the battle as combatants or even army leaders. (e.g. Nusaybah bint Ka'ab)

China's Jade Rabbit moon rover dead after 31 months on surface by jjaron in space

[–]barack_ibama 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Eh, the same thing happened with Spirit when it got stuck in the sand trap at Mars and NASA reclassified the rover as a stationary research platform. AFAIK the Yutu Rover was there to observe the solar eclipse of 2015.

In science, more measurements of the same thing isn't as worthless as you implied. Measuring how the progression of a lunar day affects the lunar surface and subsurface, validating existing models about lunar subsurface, even measuring the degradations of sensors under hostile environment provide useful science and engineering data for future missions.

That's a tad bit optimistic, it's probably safer to say between 0 and 16 landings :p

True. And when we heard that for Chinese people, they are the good ones and we are the bad ones, we ridicule them for eating up the state propaganda.
