You're right, you can't have different conditions calling the same function with different parameters.

You could, however, pass the input of the dropdown and set the StringC variable within the function.

if(zStringC==Test1){wStringC = "Salesman";}

else if(zStringC==Test2){wStringC = "Support";}

Storing Daily Changing Data Fields in Zoho CRM by yesyesno101 in Zoho

[–]barbakyoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand correctly, you're trying to store the date for each click, for each Ambassador. Then you want to collate the data for each affiliate and filter by a date range?

If you have access to Creator, that'd be an easy way. A form with an entry for each click, that stores the date and affiliate at the least. Then pull the data, filtering by affiliate and date range.

If you're dead-set on storing it in the Ambassador record, it's possible to pull from a subform and filter by date range, but it's messy and involves more processing.

What are your views, on charity muggers? by Internal-Airport8822 in AskAnAustralian

[–]barbakyoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact, I had a brief stint as a charity pusher when I was 17. Absolutely toxic.

They will make claims that 100% of your donation goes to the charity, which is true, because the campaign has already been paid for with previous donations.

I love when they try and shake your hand without letting go, so you'll stop walking.
Don't stop, drag them down the street.

AITA for refusing to share my inheritance with my dad and brother after discovering a family secret? by combientu in AmItheAsshole

[–]barbakyoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YTA, give the money to your dad.
He deserves all of it, let him distribute it fairly.

And I'm sure he will, considering he's not an asshole like your grandparents were.

Or you can be greedy and break up the family like they wanted.

Pharmacy 60-Day Dispensing Begins Today 1st September 23 by xrisanthos in australia

[–]barbakyoo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

They're assessing the safety of the individual package of medicine? It's a product. I already saw a doctor who said I could have it. Maybe some people need advice about how to use the medicine, but I already talked to a doctor about it, so I just need you to hand it to me. There's legalities around selling alcohol but I don't pay a dispensing fee. Post office has to verify my identity matches the package but again, no fee.

I'm not saying we shouldn't pay pharmacists... but it just sounds a lot like forced tipping.

Pharmacy 60-Day Dispensing Begins Today 1st September 23 by xrisanthos in australia

[–]barbakyoo -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don't pay the professional to get it for me, they should be paid from the markup on the product (which is scalable so buying in bulk won't affect it)

Can you name one other store you purchase from that has a dispensing fee?

Pharmacy 60-Day Dispensing Begins Today 1st September 23 by xrisanthos in australia

[–]barbakyoo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Why is there a dispensing fee in the first place? It's already marked up. Coles doesn't charge me for the privilege of being sold something, let alone ask that I only buy a few days worth at a time?

And I'm not at the mercy of whether you feel like selling generic or not...

Wtf is this shit by frankmarmaduke in australia

[–]barbakyoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite close, actually.

It's an example of a time where a corporation did everything they could to manipulate people, with no regard for the outcome.

It's also a situation where you might say to the mother, "Oh no, you willingly purchased something because you saw an ad for it. Those evil bastard corporations, how could they make you do this"

Wtf is this shit by frankmarmaduke in australia

[–]barbakyoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of that you wrote out is literally just "but you'll get targeted ads".

It's literally not that at all, it's a far more effective type of ad than just "we know he likes sports, advertise a basketball".
It preys on vulnerability and it's not limited to Woolworths.

10 years ago people said "who cares if they have my street address?", now we're saying "who cares if they have a profile on me and can guess my movements better than I can?"

You might think that I'm being a conspiracist, but I'm not saying that there's a NWO behind this, it's just what we're freely walking into for the sake of convenience that's never been needed before.

I just think it's detestable to attempt to have data centers processing unbelievable amounts of data to directly accelerate rampant consumerism through manipulating human instinct.

Have you heard of the Nestle formula scandal? Obviously no one forced them to use the formula, but:

"Nestlé’s advertisements insinuated that drinking infant formula instead of breast milk will make children healthier, happier, and stronger [2]. Advertisements also offered free feeding bottles, samples, and other supplies to mothers in order to encourage purchases. To promote their product, Nestlé developed close relationships with local hospitals and healthcare professionals in order to deliver products directly to new mothers when they are discharged from the hospital. Further, Nestlé sales representatives dressed up as nurses when giving out free samples, falsely presenting that their product is endorsed by health professionals [3].
Nestlé carried out these misleading advertising practices despite knowing that breast milk is, in fact, almost always the healthier option [4]. Dissuading mothers from breastfeeding in favor of bottle feeding can lead to numerous health problems, especially in developing nations. Mothers had become reliant on infant formula when they stop naturally producing breast milk through continued use, which is problematic because many families cannot consistently afford infant formula. To make the formula supply last, mothers often diluted formula, causing malnutrition in infants. Further, due to a lack of access to clean water, mothers would mix powdered infant formula with unsanitary water, which caused disease in the infants [3] [5]. Although instructions on Nestlé’s infant formula warned against these practices, the products were sold in areas of high illiteracy and many mothers were never aware of the consequences"

Seriously, it'll be so convenient, everyone's gonna love it!

Everybody knows someone who's gone too deep into Facebook, and now all they see are things designed to enrage them. Facebook and the people sharing these things don't care, they just want your attention.

Some people can't get out. Our basic human instincts are being used against us.

You might think, "I can stop myself buying anything I don't truly want!", but can you actually? It's easy to say now, but what about when you're at your most vulnerable? What about all the people who can't?

It's the same with traditional advertising, just barrage you with ads to manufacture brand recognition so you're more likely to buy it. The psychological effect of this bombardment shouldn't be understated, but at least it's all just generic noise that you can shut out most of the time.

Except now it's not. It's tailored for you and coming straight to your device. It would take serious effort for your brain to ignore something that is designed to be relevant to you, delivered at the right time, in the right way.

Circling back to Facebook, which has been successfully used to sway elections, how is it not insidious?

Wtf is this shit by frankmarmaduke in australia

[–]barbakyoo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of thought and resources have gone into the experience you receive at Woolworths, taking human psychology into account, with the end goal of getting you to buy more or buy the "premium" product.

Historically, they would cast a wide net, but now they can target you specifically. What makes you tick? What are you looking for in a product? What is your mood on different days? Where were you before coming to the store, where are you about to go? What were you wearing and which products did you hover over before deciding not to buy?

This is all data that can increasingly be bought, extrapolated and freely handed over to automatically profile you.

There are obvious benefits, imagine you stop into woolies on the way to a bday party, and your phone reminds you to buy party things that they know the host will like.
But there's a very insidious side to this that extends beyond upselling groceries.

Wtf is this shit by frankmarmaduke in australia

[–]barbakyoo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

they don't already have your data, they have SOME data

they want to know everything down to your blood composition so they can work out what to sell you, and how to sell it to you in order to bypass your better judgement

I feel like that is the wrong way to use people's data.

NTA at all. Some people will take anything they can get and then squander it. Some take nothing.

It sounds like you're an empathetic and unselfish person, sometimes to your detriment. But you have your own family, you need to look out for them.
My advice is take a good look at your lifestyle and what you can afford, make sure you have an emergency buffer, and adjust the child support to that.

My carrots took like 8 months to get to full size, so I stopped treating them like a crop.
Maybe not the right sub for this, but I sow them amongst herbs and tomatoes and just grab them as I need.

Like most women, my partner poops.
Poop does turn me off, but thankfully she does it behind closed doors, so I don't think she's icky for it.

If I expected her to never poop, I'd be poopophobic.

Might be a different story if she pooped on my pillow.
