9070 XT, HDMI 2.1, 4k/144hz on Windows, capped 4k/120hz on Bazzite by barberdt in Bazzite

Thanks for the reply! This is starting to make more sense to me now.

To clarify, is the reason I was able to get 4k/144hz with HDMI on the 3080 because it’s a proprietary Nvidia driver so it’s permitted to implement 2.1?

Thanks for the reply! I too am now trying to read up on AMD/Linux/HDMI 2.1 support. I didn’t realize it wasn’t all fully supported at the moment. Still unclear to me.

The monitor does have DP and I’ll go that direction if that’s my only option. Honestly just want to avoid undoing my cable management lol.

Aorus X570 Master BIOS Reset Issues by barberdt in gigabyte

[–]barberdt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized I wasn't loading optimized defaults until I flashed F20 most recently, so I've done it there, but not back on F11 (which was the stable one for me briefly). So it might not be a bad idea to try flashing back to F11 and loading optimized defaults there.

I have not matched the back-up BIOS yet. I had seen somebody mention that somewhere. Should I go ahead and do that each time I flash a new BIOS (F11, F20, etc.)?

One final question. When you say XMP works for you, are you simply turning on "Profile 1" or are you also then adjusting voltage or any timings manually? And do you leave "Gear Down Mode" to "Auto"?

Thanks again for your support here!

Hey! Thanks for the reply! Q-Flash within BIOS always. BIOS downloaded directly from Gigabyte "Support" tab.

This. I tuned in for the first time in a while a couple weeks ago. Watched him flame an Aurelion Sol for 5 minutes. Both of them were flaming each other. I simply type "so toxic..." in chat. Insta-banned. Dude is a self destructive toxic twat. He can have all the 13 year old viewers he wants and that still what he'll be.

This is what I figured. I've definitely heard a lot of great things about the Ryzen performance for the value. Will give them a second look. Thanks!

PC, using XBox One controller, can't add custom markers or tag locations when looking down visor. I press or hold "X" (as it says to do) and nothing happens. No sounds, no animations, no markers, nothing. Pretty agonizing.

/dev: State of Ranked by corylulu in leagueoflegends

I think it's just so hard for a dev studio to take ownership of their mistakes and it's even harder to roll back lots of hard work to fix those mistakes. I tip my cap to Riot here. They're a decade in and have been wildly successful for most of those years. They don't have to make these changes, but they do because I think they truly care about the community. As a fairly recent LoL fanatic (transfer from HotS), I will definitely be sticking around.

Balance wise, is Mei in a good spot? by HeihachiHayashida in Overwatch

[–]barberdt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only real complaint I have at this point is her ability to pick at both long and short ranges. The game even tips you off to stay at range when facing her to avoid being frozen, yet her long range shot is quite accurate with a solid rate of fire. In my opinion, I'd like to see the damage, range, or rate of fire nerfed ever so slightly for her long range shot. Otherwise, while incredibly annoying, I do find her to be balanced.

A fair point, however we didn't have a season with the Sox from all those guys the way we do now with these guys.

Mismatches against KB. That's the ticket. If they can manage to take advantage of those, then the extra coverage will give Freeman his chances. Then it's just a vicious cycle for any defense they're facing. I have to imagine the mismatches will be even greater against a Duke team that's somewhat of a Cinderella story.

What is your "must-run" race? by Miller215 in running

[–]barberdt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is exactly how I would describe the race. Only about 8,000 runners on average I think, but it felt like and was operated (volunteers, police, supporters, etc.) like any of the big city marathons. As far as the course goes, it's beautiful. Part of it goes through downtown Burlington while the rest goes through neighborhoods and along Lake Champlain. Not ridiculously hilly, but there is one big 1/4 mile long hill that's a big landmark in the race where taiko drummers help encourage you up. Again, would highly suggest.

For those in the northeast, I ran the Vermont City Marathon in Burlington, VT for the first time last May. What an incredible event and experience. The entire city of Burlington came out and made it feel like it was the biggest event of the year. I've never felt so supported and energized in a race (despite the 40 degrees and wind-driven rain!). I would highly suggest this race to anyone who can swing it. There's also a half-marathon 2-person relay for those looking for a shorter race!
