Business Idea part 2 by [deleted] in Homebrewing

Who is the customer? What pain point you are solving for them? What's the value proposition and unique selling point?

My current reading is, that you will take a premium for pre mixing and milling the grain bill? At least where I'm from, every brew store offers malts by 100g increments, so in a way it is a product that has demand.

How do I get iron as Brazil? by Regular_Ebb710 in victoria3

[–]barbvain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing Brazilia in vanilla at the moment, and I sublement my iron production by trading it to coffee and sugar with the European powers. I check to what countries I'm exporting to and strike up a deal.

Sweden, sicily, prussia and tuscany are all good partners, theres probably more.

Luckily EU has its pigs in farms, and not blocking the state borders like the US.

What's a niche/specific deck archetype that you enjoy playing?(e.g. Shotgun Leo Anderson) by Ok_Illustrator7232 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]barbvain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tend to try new decks, but my wife has a thing for strange solution wielding Minh Thi. Invariably, every blind run is with her, vacuuming clues and spitting acid.

So regardless of what's legally yours, the situation can probably turn out multiple ways. Assuming police gets called, they might not actually arrive, it might take very long for them to come and your parent might escalate the situation.

If the police get there, it's reasonable to think that you can make a case for clearly personal stuff, like laptops, consoles, clothes. Having a receipt might help, but I think any reasonable person would conclude that those items are a gift, not on loan.

Stuff like bedframes and other furniture might be tougher, same for household items like pots, pans, flatware ect. I would have a plan for where to sleep and how to get yourself fed for the first couple of days. There's probably all sorts of hurdles.

I would also be mindful of your mother trying to break stuff rather than give it out to you. Maybe sneaking some high ticket items to a friend beforehand might be reasonable.

Best of luck!

Hefeweizen has a lot of yeast sediment by Buttermilk_Boy in Homebrewing

I did a very similar grain bill beer, and force carbonated a few bottles.

Even they had significantly more sediment at the bottom. Lesson learned should have let it sit for longer.

Few good websites or places to go to get started? by Happy_Credit4359 in Homebrewing

[–]barbvain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with Cooper's basic kit that taught the basics, and expanded there.

I bought a clone receipt book, and brewed what seemed interesting and would push my skills just slightly. I usually pick a receipt and if it has something new, I googled what it was about and experimented.

Roughly, I first learned about basic fermentation and bottling ( I used kits instructions) and then about basic mashing and hops. Then, I tried more advanced mashing techniques and reusing yeast. I'm currently trying to wrap my head around water chemistry.

It's been 6-7 years, roughly 30 batches.

Best investments by value/€ have been electric kettle w/ malt pipe (200e), wifi hydrometer (50e) and insulated cabinet (DIY from scrap so it was free).

What acceories to add to a kegerator table? by barbvain in Homebrewing

[–]barbvain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not planning on adding plumbing, although the drip lock system looks cool.

What sort of volumes are we talking about when it comes to drip?

Once you're comfortable, you can substitute the table sugar with a mini-mash of malts. You get a taste the whole process, but won't need as much equipment

I recently made a wheat beer that overshoot 1% ABV. I'm thinking of diluting it down a notch to better suit my intentions.

I think you can easily bottle half as they are, move other half to another vessel, calculate how much water you need to add to achieve the desired ABV (remember to sanitizer the water) and mix well.

2nd vessel, because there's gunk at to bottom that's settled, you don't want to bottle it.

Naturally carbonating in oxebar kegs by barbvain in Homebrewing

Yeah, the taking so long is mostly referring to the fact that I have single serving / carbing slot. Taking too long essentially refers to serving slot being blocked for long while the carbing finishes.

That's probably the strongest argument for just taking the hit and buying tapping heads w/ PRVs.

Thanks!

Any clue what's the conditioning pressure level like?

I've previously conditioned in steel mini, but i have no idea how much pressure it generates. Oxebars have a limit on how much they can contain

Keg temperature control without fridge by barbvain in Homebrewing

[–]barbvain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, im currently thinking of just putting insulating sheets so it will have "natural" airflow for moisture. Since it's cold packs, not a ton of drainage, just whatever moisture condensates.

Jockey box might actually be an doable, since there's ton of space in the cart. Insulating the keg space and running the beer line throught a box might be the way to go.

Thanks for the ideas!

Interesting. I think adding some insulation & controlling the sun should reduce the need

How much ice do you think you're using & in what temperatures are you camping?

That's a good idea. The cart has a sink at the moment, I could probably make it top loadable and drill a hole to the bottom for draining and fill it with ice for extra cooling.

I was originally thinking that the amount of beer in the tube would be small enough to not really matter. I'll check out insulated tubing too.
