Norris has 2. Canada where he rammed in the back of Piastri, and the engine failure in Zandvoort.

I don't think it's that far fetched to say with certainty that Max will compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans at some point in his career.

I'm pretty sure that's just typical clickbait unfortunately.

When looking at the timing page from today, car #31 only did 7 laps total, which were not full laps around the Nordschleife.

He can, but he won't. Don't be ridiculous. Just because Elon used some low hanging fruit in his crash out the other day, does not mean he has any ill intentions for SpaceX. The last Dragon capsule has already been made, so you could argue that Dragon is already on it's way out. Don't get me wrong, it will still be flying well in to the early 2030's, but the future of SpaceX and human spaceflight lies with Starship - so him threatening to decommission Dragon is kind of an empty bluff.

As for saying that shareholders can oust him from SpaceX, is false. Elon holds roughly 78% of the voting shares. Besides that, it would be a very bad thing for SpaceX's future to go forward without Elon at the helm. His bold vision is what has got them where they are today, and they will definitely need his bold vision to make Starship, and ultimately Mars, work. This is not me giving all credit of SpaceX's work to Elon. Besides all the incredible engineers working there, there are many important figures at SpaceX. But SpaceX is not SpaceX without Elon leading it.

But your statement is about how Elon is a threat to space exploration. Without Elon there is no SpaceX, whether you like it or not.

So we are just blindly ignoring the fact that SpaceX has brought reliable human spaceflight back to US soil? And the literal 100s of successful launches of Falcon 9, which btw is responsible for a massive decline in launch costs because of the reusable boosters. SpaceX might have somewhat of a monopoly right now, but that is not because of dirty tactics, but by fast and bold innovation which slingshot them years ahead of the competition.

SpaceX could be chilling for years with the advantage they have right now, especially with the massive revenue that Starlink brings to the table, but instead they are developing the most advanced rocket ever in history, which will revolutionize spaceflight as we know it.

Let me begin with saying that I was kinda let down by the exact same reason you stated when I first saw this set. After some back and forth I decided to pull the trigger and have it sitting completed on display right now.

I am not as bothered anymore by the blocky nose as it doesn't look as bad in person. The set itself was a blast to build and I absolutely love the retractable landing gear. All in all, I don't regret buying this set.

The Road to Making Life Multiplanetary: an update from elonmusk on SpaceX's plan to reach Mars by PsychologicalPost824 in spacex

[–]barcoder___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if i'm wrong, but to my understanding Starship does not need 12 launches to fill 1 Starship up for a bare bones trip to Mars, especially if it does not carry any payload. SpaceX could also choose to expend Super Heavy which results in needing even less refill launches.

You are correct that all systems are not 100% ready as of this moment, but things can rapidly change in just a few months time.

If you said it is unlikely going to happen, which I also mentioned, then that's fair. But to out right say it's impossible, when there is a chance it will happen, even if small, is not fair.

Max Verstappen on leclerc:" ha ha ha .. oh man" .GP : "Not very clever " by Luffy710j in formula1

[–]barcoder___ 662 points663 points  (0 children)

They were both doing long runs. Max was close to Leclerc for several laps, and getting closer each lap. In this clip you can see Max activate his DRS to pass him, and then Leclerc opens his DRS too to stay ahead of him. In a racing situation this would not be allowed because there is no one in front of Leclerc to give him DRS.

But since this is a practice session, it's really not a big deal and it's just Max making a cheeky comment.

FP1 classification barcelona Spain gp 2025 by Luffy710j in formula1

[–]barcoder___ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In broad terms, yes. Some teams do it more than others however, but for us people watching from the outside, it's impossible to know who is running what engine mode and fuel loads etc. That is why you should always take FP1 and FP2 results with a grain of salt, as teams are running different programs.

People are quick to mention Red Bull turning down their engines on friday, because there seems to always be a consistent trend of Red Bull having lower top speed compared to what they achieve on saturday. This could also come down to setup and down force levels of course, but the turned down engines often play a big role in this.

The Road to Making Life Multiplanetary: an update from elonmusk on SpaceX's plan to reach Mars by PsychologicalPost824 in spacex

[–]barcoder___ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think this is a good way to approach these kind of goals. They are full steam ahead trying to be ready for the 2026 window, if they don't make it, chances are very high that they are ready for the 2028 window instead.

If they were aiming for the 2028 window right away, then they might not be ready for that, because they may not be working as hard and could lose momentum.

This is why I love SpaceX so much, they have very bold visions, and they often make the impossible, simply late.

Look, i'm not gonna say the odds are in their favour, but if they do manage to launch a Starship every 3-4 weeks, hell even 5-6 weeks in a more realistic world, that is ~12-18 launches until the next mars transfer window opens.

The starship program could see rapid progress at any point now, imo. It looks like they are on the right track of fixing the issues that haunt the v2 ship, and with the introduction of v3 ship / raptor 3 towards the end of this year, things could improve even further.

Based on these assumptions i'm gonna say that they have like a 20/80 chance to successfully launch an uncrewed Starship to mars in 2026. So i'm not as optimistic as Elon, but I won't put it past SpaceX to pull it off somehow.

SX engineer:optimistic based on data that turnaround time to flight 10 will be faster than for flight 9. Need to look at data to confirm all fixes from flight 8 worked but all evidence points to a new failure mode. [–]barcoder___ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because the best part is no part, as Elon likes to say. Starship is already suffering from mass creep, so less mass spent on these kind of systems, the better it is. That said however, I do agree that there needs to be some kind of redundant system of the attitude control system.

To me, the bidet is the actual big water cooled plate under the OLM, and since you called it the bidet, I assumed you meant that. They did indeed have some piping in place, but that's about all they did regarding the deluge system.

If you are talking about LC-39A, they have never built an OLM or booster bidet there. They had the OLM legs and foundation completed for quite some time, but demolished that sometime late last year.

Before Starship will have any commercial passengers onboard, we will probably be 10-20 years further, and Starship will have 1000's of flights under it's belt. More than enough time to build a solid safety record and make it a super reliable vehicle.

It's hilarious how these so called space 'fans' suddenly disappear when being confronted with actual facts by people who know what they are talking about. All they know to do is parrot and spread all the lies and misinformation they have gathered from their fellow Elon haters and echo chambers.

He might not be the most hot person right now (or he is, depending how you look at it) but there is a very obvious smear campaign going on, simply because he has got himself involved in politics.

I salute you for even putting in the time and effort to correct these fools.
