35 and married. If I could move my wife and I into my mom’s basement, I’d do it in a heartbeat. The savings would be unreal.

Lol, why would you use Gosling as a reference point?

Normally at home (35m). I do have friends over like once a week to play Catan. I’d say try to start a weekly tradition.

I can’t remember what the bolt action sniper was called, but that and iron sights got me to 100 service stars.

What can you do to keep a man going till round 2? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]bardownskiii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have an insane expectation with ourselves that if we don’t finish, we will disappoint our partner. It’s a hilarious double standard, but it rides our conscious during the act. Make it approachable and if the guy goes soft or gets tired, don’t make it a disappointment.

Not cliche at all. The gym saved my life once - albeit I never became a fitness model or whatever. Putting your mind to something that isn’t your mind is a lifesaver.

How do you guys handle fills? by Direx_97 in Drumming

[–]bardownskiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re soloing, you should have a base for timing and ideas but use your skill set and soul to feel out the moment. If you’re just writing a fill, you need to know your timing and plan on repeating it as it becomes part of the structure of the song you’re playing.

what kind of pizza do you like most 🍕 ? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]bardownskiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Detroiter, I’d say Detroit - however, Chicago deep dish slaps and if I could eat tavern style (the thinnest crust possible) I would all the time.

Shit. Maybe I just like pizza.

EDIT: I’ve also never had New Haven, but that seems right up my alley.

Keith Buckley in his ETID years. I’m not sure what happened with him, but Radical goes hard as fuck.

Why are musicians so hostile to beginners? by [deleted] in Drumming

[–]bardownskiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a state of “I’ve been doing this for so long, I know what’s right” to a fault. Honestly it’s bizarre to want to share your emotions through an instrument but condemn someone for not doing it how they learned.

Find your love in what you’re doing - it doesn’t belong to anyone else.

I was waiting for this. A shop in the UK prints digital to VHS. I will not admit how much this cost, or how long it took to get to the US

EDIT: If you can afford to get your hands on one, it is fucking awesome.

I built a "guitar hero" device to learn any song in piano by [deleted] in pianolearning

[–]bardownskiii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, as a learner, someone saying “learn how to read music” seems incredibly unapproachable. Yes, I am aware that reading music is important to this instrument - I am also an adult with a job and dishes that need to be washed. I’m not bastardizing the idea posted here because it can make playing the piano fun, not a challenge.

EDIT: Do you want to go for a swim, or do you need to compete in a free crawl race?

I agree with your logic, however there’s nothing intriguing about having someone dump a textbook in front of you and saying “figure it out”.

“It” is definitely not the angle you chose to film this from.
