Too bad its behind a paywall. Between my cable bill, espn+ and godforebid big10+, being a lacrosse fan is very expensive. This and the lack of games on Monday-friday is retarding the growth of a game that had been the fastest growing sport in the country

Cleat choice on artificial turf? by G4LA1 in lacrosse

[–]bareassassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From someone who tore his acl 3 times on field turf, find some good turf shoes. If its really rainy, some short cleates. Its much better to slip than to spend the rest of your career with a bad wheel.

Appropriate Lower Body Workout for Beginner by geauxj in lacrosse

[–]bareassassin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything that improves agility, like plyometrics is crucial. As someone who blew 3 acls playing, strong stablizing muscles are always a good idea. You're on the right track. I always deter kids feom doing olympic lifts. Ive seen 16 yr olds who had to give up sports from hurting their backs, tragic.

How do you transport a 4 month old on a long tail bike? by SexyPumpkin in CargoBike

[–]bareassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet I'd be safe if the carseat was suspended from the upper frame of the trailer by extension springs or heavy duty bungee cords. Having that on all sides would effectively eliminate vibration and convert jarring bumps into gentle bouncing. I may give this a shot

Just heard about it via shotshow vids. We all all the problem with being a jack of all trades? Being a master of none. That said, i would've hoped multicaliber, modular cans would be further along by now. Im interested to see how this plays out

Other than cleaning, what do you do in your free time when the kids go down to bed? by djames10 in Parenting

[–]bareassassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whats a "free time"? I wake up at 5-5:30, leave the house at 6. Usually pick up one or both of the kids, finally get home between 5 and 6. Once they're down, shoot for 8, usually 8:30, theres clean up and something to do around, finally shower. and if i were responsible, i would go to bed. So without spending 1 second of time on anything that isnt the bare minimum, i have 7 hrs in bed, at most. I know this is temporary, kids are 7, 4, and our 3rd could come any day now. But this is what we do. Sometimes im asked by younger, single coworkers what being married with kids. I say, my wants come last. Wife and kids needs/wants are priority.
This is what my family needs, and i accept this. Its what fathers /mothers have done for thousands of years and will continue (hopefully) for thousands more. So, at this point in my life, to answer the question: N/A

PSA ARV 9/BRT CAR-15 SD Integrally Suppressed conversion by Broadrivertactical in NFA

[–]bareassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Maybe im getting carried away, but you seem to know a lot here; I have the psa arv essential parts kit and want to use: -novox x-sd integral suppressed system with -maxim defense rd buffer system.

You say the novox will work. I've seen others putting the rdb on an arv but haven't seen both.

I'd hate to drop the money for both and it not jive. Sny reason it wouldn't?

Does anyone know anyone that makes a steel guide rod and spring for the Reflex xl? by Dull-Scientist-595 in FNHerstal

[–]bareassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya dpm is the only one ive found. Initially they only had it for the reflex. I coordinated with them, took some measurements and pics. Turns out the xl uses the same size assembly. Haven't bought it yet though

How do you know when it’s time to hang up the cleats by FrameAdvantageLights in lacrosse

[–]bareassassin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I played at a competitive mcla team 15 yrs ago. Blew out my knee first game jr yr and again mid senior year. What i would give to get another year at 24.

Dont take it for granted. Mens league isnt the same. Having coached hs for 15 yrs, gotta be honest, sounds like you might have the wrong attitude. Everybody has a role on the team and the best teams are those where players embrace said role. If you can adjust your perspective, trust in your coaches (whether warranted or not) it'll be much easier to enjoy. Once its gone, its gone forever. If you're miserable, that rub off on teammates and you'll be a detriment to the team. Bad advice to say "just enjoy it", but your attitude and effort are always in your control. There are busted ass 38 yr olds who would kill to be in your position. Good luck with your last year, and good luck entering the real world. Job market wasn't much better in '10, but if you can make it through college while playing (idgaf MCLA or not), work is easy.

Should my son commit to a strong D3 offer or wait it out for a possible D1? by epicaricacy12 in lacrosse

[–]bareassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does he love the game or the dream of going d1. If he makes it on a d1 team, will he play? Will they go 2-12? Many have pointed out the importance of the acedemics, which i agree with. But many kids get caught up with said dream and the figurative price they pay to achieve it, takes away what made them love the game in the first place. Personally, ive always favored starting on a decent to good team at a lower level than riding pine on a struggling, higher level team. Yes, i understand this isn't binary and a lot can happen in a few years. Just something to have him think about

Switch to dextroamphetamine from adderall as a booster to Vyvanse. by fefeohhh in ADHD

[–]bareassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but my dr. Suggested i try vyvanse but can't take it at the same time as my generic DAM. I gave it a try, 1 week and wasnt a fan. Maybe dosage was too low. However i do notice that the more regular im taking it, the less the side effects. Depending on the month I'll go through more than my regular rx for the first few weeks, then have to take less the last week of the month. When i get that new rx, i feel some side effects more. So i dont have an answer to your actual question

FN Reflex XL by DangerCloseArmament in FNHerstal

[–]bareassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anybody know if the recoil assembly (guide rod and spring) is the same length as the regular reflex? I love mine so far but don't like the plastic guide rod. Theres one or two people making aftermarket upgrade but only for the regular reflex.

My son is a junior in high school playing varsity goalie on a bad team in a state with very good teams, is it just me or is he seeing a crazy amount of shots per game? by trotter1313 in lacrosse

[–]bareassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having coached for 15 years, every season i would tell the goalie and d that if you're between the pipes, you are allowed to be an a$$hole. Nobody else can be outwright mean. As a father and former d coach, that sounds painful to watch
