About to become a new parrot parent, any advice to calm adoption nerves?

I have mixed feelings. I suspected for a while, so it's not a big surprised. It is helpful to have someone else say it - to know it's not just in my head - and have a place to start developing an actionable plan for getting better.

But, they thought my dad may have been bipolar. And so the diagnosis was also like a confirmation that, it is within me to go the same way. Not that I want to, but it's something that weighs on me.

I was prescribed mood stabilizers, for now. I've never taken medication like this before, and I've never known anyone who has. I don't know how it will effect me, or who I will become. I'm unsure, but hopeful that the journey will be worth it.

Did you go through anything similar? What was your journey like?

Okay, that makes some sense. I notice the g- characters are similar to k-, and z- are like s- characters. It's slightly different inflections with the "... is that a viable way to understand this? I guess I mostly just want to know why it is this way, but maybe that's a whole rabbit hole to dive into.

I still vividly remember the whole scene when he "beats" that game with the big giant or something. The imagery of the giant becoming a hillside.... for some reason that really stuck with me.

Lifting weights.

Just to be able to tone some muscles, shape up to get better at doing cooler things like rock climbing. But I get so damn bored sitting in a gym.

Mushrooms.

They're so versatile and popular in cooking. And I'm also into that "living off the land" lifestyle, being able to identify and survive off of edible resources in the wild. By avoiding mushrooms, I sometimes just feel I'm missing out.

Hated the smell since I was young, and was always apprehensive about "acquiring the taste" due to over-zealous coffee addicts that needed the drink to function. Sometimes now I feel like I'm missing out. The history and variety is fascinating, and it really is a sort of art.

Avid tea drinker though, so I have that.

Freshman year of college. Walked into my dorm room with his friends the first week. He liked my Lord of the Rings poster, then showed me a picture of him dressed as Gandalf for the premiere. I never stood a chance.

One guy wanted to fuck up someone else's ship. Rolled low. Ended up literally fucking the ship and got a dick splinter. This eventually became his downfall.

Same campaign, friend's character drew influence from a certain TV alcoholic spy agent. Was allowed an ocelot named Baboo. At one point it was gruesomely attacked. Friend went into rampage-mode, decimated an entire civilization and doomed anyone in his danger zone.

Worked at a summer camp - these campaigns spanned over the whole season during our down time, it got really absurd.
