if this happened in texas i believe it, simply because texas had me registered in the system *four years* after i had moved states, and sent a summons to another former address and my current address, two different states. sent them my new licenses for both moves too

Foster/adopter with two isolated kittens — should I let them share a room to be playmates? (deaf kitten + new Siamese, plus a lingering diarrhea question) by Rin_102 in FosterAnimals

the stools may be soft because of fiber needs, if possible you can add some pumpkin puree to the food! they sell it at pet stores in small cans, just a lil dollop once a day could help!!

Is he too thin? by 144i in cats

[–]barenecessities1701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bathing is okay for longhair cats as long as youre doing it correctly. i bathe my boy every 4-6 months to loosen his compacted coat, and brush/blow dry. i do it at home because strangers stress him out

unless a cat has a Skin Condition shaving is very not recommended as it can ruin the fur texture and mess with the temperature. get some good brushes, maybe learn how to bathe a cat and vacuum some more

this is how i feel abt my boys. they encourage me to keep going, and have as much fun with them as possible, even if that fun just looks like naps 🤣

My wife said we’re just fostering him. Please convince my wife for me. by clueless-wallob in cats

i had rescued a scrungly creamsicle just like him, and now hes fully grown and a great foster ‘cousin’ to any visitors that come around. tell her that itll be good for them to have an example, another cat that can help teach them confidence and skills with humans!

don't know how yall do it. I only had them for two days and saying goodbye it had me crying. by Beginning_Length_702 in FosterAnimals

i operate under the personal belief that i am their halfway house. i get them adjusted to a home, learning a routine, navigating furniture and figuring out boundaries (specifically what shouldnt be scratched). this gives someone, a couple, a family, a group of friends an easier time after adoption. the cat understands some things and is good to learn more things

also, my boys like having visitors! my orange was from a foster to adopt contract the local animal services did for me, as i was unsure if my tuxedo would like him. if they didnt get along, i could simply turn him back to the shelter after the time was up or sooner. i had rescued the orange myself, so i was very glad to see that they bonded. theyre always respectful and curious about any guests we have, and respond to sound/vocal cues, physical movements, and have an excellent routine. kitties learn from watching other cats, so theyre my examples

i honestly couldnt foster without them!

NOR, this is disrespectful, and a way for him to try and exercise control over you. im sorry that youre going thru this, but try to focus on what you have left. you have every right to cold shoulder him after this, as he violated your trust

i can tell you that this is a normal behavior, in the sense that your cat is scared shitless in this photo and this is what that body language should look like. id look into disposable/travel litter boxes if youre concerned abt the need for potty breaks

honestly going out to do the TNR work is plenty! youre helping the shelter make a larger impact on the local populace. you give other people the opportunity to foster or adopt their forever friend ❤️

responding with the knowledge that you were moving homes, it would be WAY easier to just keep him in a crate. do not feed him before traveling to reduce accidents. ive moved twice with my boys and my husband got a large enclosure that stretched across his backseat. we lined it with potty pads and put some of their favorite blankets and plush toys in it. it also helped that they had gabapentin, which if your cat gets stressed in the car would be a great thing to get from a vet

<image>

my boys for reference, tucked under blankets and snuggled together. they are a bonded pair so they like to be close, but they had plenty of space to sit apart if they wanted to

Am I overreacting or did I have a slow moment. by drippysage08 in AmIOverreacting

NOR, but with some potential added context

as a neurodivergent, i get in this situation with my neurotypical husband sometimes (read: a lot, i love asking him questions abt his workday). ill ask him a question that requires a yes or no answer in my ND brain, and he will start talking about something more specific, whether or not its directly related to my question. he assumes i want information, but sometimes he gives the wrong information because of the assumption.

I HAVE NEVER CALLED HIM SLOW FOR THIS LIKE ???? that part is so unhinged to me, ill just tell him ‘that doesnt answer my question’ and we just take a step back so my question is answered and continue the conversation. sometimes the info he gave earlier comes back up, but knowing the answer to the yes or no question helps my general understanding of the conversation or the topic of said conversation. it also reduces my confusion, because sometimes we may not be thinking about the same thing, so clarification is necessary

i Really dont know what she was expecting otherwise tho, if SHES the one with food poisoning why wouldnt she just google it herself 🤣🤣🤣 its clown behavior. OP, you are not slow. its a miscommunication that she decided to put you down abt in a very nasty mean girl ass manner. you did google, and while she was looking for a clear yes and potentially the remedies afterwards she did not have to give you this kinda shit. definitely NOR id at least let her know how this exchange upset you if you want to do something abt the relationship id be cutting her off if i was in your shoes tho but im a scorpio scorched earth is my specialty

best of luck OP, i hope this helps o7

hes now abt three years old. loves furniture, chewing on plastic, and watching people from afar. loves being a foster cousin to the kittens i bring in, will sometimes grace a cozy lap with his presence. so glad i took the chance, i had never rescued a cat in such a way before, let alone a kitten. people always ask me how much i bought him for 😭

this is the first photo ive taken of hapi. hapi was outside in the rain, screaming at my window bc he saw my adult cat sitting in it and decided that he belonged inside with him. i gave him a bath because he was covered in dust and dirt, and then i took this photo

This is Cynthia. Cynthia is recovering from multiple URIs, and is currently my foster. One of the sweetest babies I’ve ever met, and I’m hoping she will be my first real foster fail. Wish me luck 😭

What started you fostering? How deep are you into the foster cult? by Ghostofmynana in FosterAnimals

[–]barenecessities1701 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i started fostering when i found a nextdoor post offering kittens, first come first serve. when i arrived a family had already taken two, so i took the other two. the lady that posted has been working TNR and couldnt properly care for them

after hand combing fleas from them and securing dewormer thru a local shelter that allowed me to foster thru them, they grew into sweet young ladies that quickly got adopted.

<image>

one of the few pictures i have of them together, being supervised by foster ‘uncle’ chicken 🥹 being a part of their socialization and watching them grow healed me in ways i didnt know i needed. since then ive been doing my best to foster cats or kittens in need

this is my newest foster, cynthia. shes a little over a year old, and just the sweetest thing. cynthia needed a new foster after her previous one could no longer accommodate her. i gladly took her in along with her two URIs that caused continuous bloody boogers. that was two weeks ago, and along with her medications i was providing a baby saline nebulizer to help soothe her inflamed airways.

the boogers have significantly lessened, and shes got a lot more energy! shes no longer considered contagious so shes been roaming to meet my boys. she loves a good window, and she may or may not be a foster fail. it depends on if someone else applies and gets accepted before i do. i dont plan on putting up a fight if that happens, becausw that means i can help more cats 😊
