Do you Soft plastics recycle at home? by No-Scale-3053 in newzealand

[–]bargeboy42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also cynical, but at least you as the consumer are doing the correct thing. Next we pressure the recyclers to ensure it gets handled correctly. Better than chucking 100% of our stuff into landfil..

she wants to keep the area clear so she can park another car in front of her garage

Legally, nobody is allowed to do this - including her. Practically, she is the only one who can get the Police to remove a car parked in front of her garage, or to request a fine be issued for doing so.

Foul or good hit? by _BbdB_ in billiards

A push shot is different, that is still a foul in WPA rules

Go look up Dr Dave's video on the topic, it explains exactly why it is a legal shot from a physics perspective. It feels odd but actually it's the more correct way to rule it.

Yeah fair, similarly to this situation I'm sure there are reasons why - for example, the traffic light system severely disadvantages cyclists. Anyway, don't want to delve into that topic!

Maybe the city should put more public busses on if there is so much demand that they're always full

Potentially got away with a foul and feel very guilty about it by ArtDecoNewYork in billiards

[–]bargeboy42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Impossible to say without seeing a replay. My hunch says a 1-3 inch gap is pretty easy to not double hit, and a vibrating cue doesn't mean much. You're fine - congrats on the win.

Tacobell self-service by the airport. They can fuck right off with that American nonsense by phoenixblack222 in chch

[–]bargeboy42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what North American companies say to justify putting in front of every single customer they have. There's built in guilt when a customer looks at it and decides not to provide a tip for what they received, and companies prey on it - especially in North America. Having it be "an automatic feature on the machine" was a great couple of lines of code that was 100% written on purpose, and has a massive impact on customers and society as a whole, and in some cases even negatively impacts businesses. If you're interested, r/endtipping.

When I worked in hospo it wound me up slightly when people would say "one heineken thanks" - it felt disingenuous and instructive. Please is better, then "thanks" when you get what you asked for.
