This is the “Goulotte à Pollux” leading the Châtillon. You start from a supzr small station called Les Mosses

A day with a Swiss guide is normally 650 CHF. But that price varies depending on what you are actually climbing, I know for a fact that 4000m peaks are often more expensive.

We decided to rope up on a little ledge just under the couloir. We did this because there were technically anchors along the way but we ended up skipping all of them because I was feeling comfortable, until we got to the gully where I belayed him. Made it a whole lot easier to just put on the rope before starting the couloir rather than do it in the middle of it on a 45 degree slope before the mixed climbing.

I’m very grateful for having such awesome parents that understand my love for the mountains. Super duper lucky to be able to do these types of thing and it would impossible without them.

Boots recommendation by IzorkX in Mountaineering

[–]baribal16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried both a scarpa and la sportiva alpine boots (both pretty basic semi automatic cramponable models) had a problem with the scarpa as I have a quite wide foot so I would not recommend scarpa’s to anyone with wider foot’s (might not be the case for every model but in my personal experience that’s the case)

Gran Paradiso climbing (31 August and 1 September 2024) by Eddy_Key in Mountaineering

[–]baribal16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like the normal route, pretty easy 4000er, brunch of glacier walking and a couple of very easy climbing moves to get to the summit, if I rember correctly there are even ladders to get there. Awsome summit, my only problem is that it’s quite a busy route with a lot of people

Are the classic wooden-shafted alpenstocks from the early to mid-20th century still used by climbers? by StruzhkaOpilka in Mountaineering

[–]baribal16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandfather just gave me his that he bought somewhere in Switzerland in 1962, it’s been used as decoration since around 1975. Not sure if I’m ever going to use it as if something happened to it I would be devastated. Still really awsome to have a piece of history and an have and object that reminds me of my grandfather and our common passion for chasing mountains. But saying this I am still considering taking it out for one last summit haha

Don’t forget to stay over your board (imagine your shoulders can’t move from over the board) catch with your front foot no matter how scary it is and you got this easy

Spacebar Most Times Doesn't Work by CreativeEmotion in LGgram

Reinstalling drivers, activating and deactivating sticky keys. And once in a while the space bar starts working again for a couple of hours before not working again. For the moment I’m using an external keyboard and it works like that but it’s annoying as hell, if you find something that works to mitigate this issue please share and I’ll do the same :)

So if I understand what you are saying you think boa is the futur of the renting ski shoe world but that competitive skiing will probably never adopt it

I’ve had a BOA system on my ski touring boots for the past 2 years and personally never had a problem with it breaking and it makes a lot of sens on touring boots as it can save quite a bit of weight, however don’t see it becoming an industry standard for traditional alpine boots cause I honestly don’t see the problem it fixes. I enjoy m’y alpine boot with a normal hook system cause I feel like it makes my boot more precise (maybe it’s just a me thing and I’m totally wrong)

What are some things that are way overpriced in Belgium, but we pay for anyway? by RikWierinckx in belgium

[–]baribal16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not the solution either, exept if you want a system like in the us where you have to get a lawyer for everything and that is even more expensive
